YES! I have two other pressure cookers, 6qt and 8qt, but they are non-stick pots. The IP is a stainless steel pot, so I switched at regular price to the 7 in 1 so I had the yogurt setting. The newer ones have so many settings. The only real preset I use is steam and yogurt since I do manual for my meats and soups/veggies. I steam my pasta to keep it from overcooking on the pressure settings.

. . . do I really need an Instant Pot? If you have/had a pressure cooker, did you buy an Instant Pot to replace it, or as an addition to it? Can you tell me what the advantage is? I'm really tempted!

I have had mine for about 2.5 months. It really is a neat gadget. I make yogurt twice a week. I have made beef stroganoff, lemon chicken, spaghetti with meat sauce, cream of tomato soup, too many other things to mention. BUT, Hubby told me we didn't need it, lol. He has made ribs, oatmeal, beans, pulled pork.

I was afraid at first. I kept thinking about the stove top pressure cooker that would shake on the stove. It's nothing like that. The outside doesn't even get hot.

I like the stainless shiny pot aspect of it and I assume it can go into dishwasher.

I don't need all those other features. I just want to tenderize meats, period

if all my other pressure cookers were broke I'd get one just for the sake of getting one and for the stainless pot.

An Instant Pot IS a pressure cooker but can also steam and make yogurt (on all models but the Lux). It has many preset buttons, but if you follow any Facebook pages or blogs of experienced pressure cooker owners, you will see that most only use the saute and pressure cook (manual) button. If your pressure cooker has those two buttons, you are set. From what I have gathered (haven't tried it myself), the slow cooker feature on pressure cookers does not work well because of the way a pressure cooker heats from the bottom.

There are many good brands of electric pressure cookers nowadays that are multifunctional. Instant Pot is just the most well-known brand. Many have stainless steel pots. F a g or, Cosori, Mealthy, Cuisinart and others are some people might consider. I've read they're all made in China. I have a Mealthy 9-in-1 and love it. It's feature-rich, has a stainless pot, came with a lot of accessories, has an LCD screen, and has a great price point. It's often on sale for $89.95 on Amazon or $94.95 on their website. Whether from Amazon or their website, there is no tax or shipping. The customer service is amazing.

I have an 8 quart Wolfgang pressure cooker and purchased the InstaPot for those times when I want to make smaller meals...also the InstaPot has pre-set functions that my pressure cooker does not have. I normally use my 8Qt to cook beans and other items in large quantities but I love my InstaPot and find I use it more than my 8QT pressure cooker.

I have my second pressure cooker from q hardly use~donated first one used 3 times never came to pressure. And how do you clean top cover hardly use because do not think top is clean? And is there a gasket on instant pot? I have cooked a couple meals and they never came to pressure has that ever happened to any one else on pressure cookers and I was completely dumbfounded I do not have time to play as a busy Mom because never home. Is insta pot easier as I am strapped for time no time to learn would consider getting rid of 8 qt pressurer cooker brand new not being used.

I bought it because it has a stainless steel liner.I really like my Cooks Essential Pressure cooker a lot but the linesr are defective. Replaced one and it did it again. So upset with that brand. But I will keep my Cooks essential in hope that they will come out with a stainless steel liner. Plus it seems well excepted by a lot of people. Well see , I haven't used it yet.

Daysdee, I can't determine for you whether the TSV Instant Pot would be worthwhile, but I think you'd love it. Of course, it saves time, but the food you make in it will be fabulous, so it's not simply a time-saver. You may have plenty of time to cook, but it's nice not to have to babysit whatever it is you're cooking regardless of how long it takes. I have plenty of time to cook too, but it's nice set my Instant Pot and forget it. It's very simple to use - no big learning curve. And if you do have questions, view some of the You Tube Instant Pot videos and join one of the many Facebook groups. The Facebook group called Instant Pot Community has 1.5 million members so you can easily get any question answered.

Try an Instant Pot. If you don't like it, though I can't imagine you won't, you can return it to QVC.
