This past weekend I purchased the Farberware Professional V-Blade Mandoline Slicer, thinking it would work to cut sweet potato fries, as it included a "thick julienne" blade. Got it at Walmart.

Well, it definitely is not the right thing and I am thinking of getting something that ONLY cuts fries and not other things like tomatoes, carrots, etc., so I know it will work for the only thing I am interested in.

I searched on the Internet, checked out Amazon, etc., and there seems to be an abundance of choices.

If you have a cutter that is designated for fries, and you are very pleased with it, I would appreciate knowing the brand and if it will do the size (thickness and length) of the typical fries you can buy when you go to a restaurant.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.

A good sharp knife with a thin blade! I cut off a slice so the potato will set even and not roll. Easy to slice. I like to cut the round, then slice, about 3/8" thick.

The length of the fry is much better.

And, yes, the sweet potatoes are denser and were giving me a bit of a hard time cutting them. Of course, my knives might not be the sharpest, but they do well with anything else.

Believe what you have posted would work quite well. Hmmmm.....definitely the better of the solutions so far.

Thanks!

If anyone cares to know, the recipes that came with the crisper are as follows:

Sweet Potato French Fries

3-4 sweet potatoes

coconut oil

pink sea salt and fresh ground pepper

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Peel potatoes - cut into fries or use a french fry cutter

Place them in dry mixing bowl, coat with 1 tablespoon coconut oil and fresh ground pepper and pink salt

Place them in the Gotham Air Crisper Tray

Cook for five minutes. Toss with two silicone spoons.

Raise heat to 400 degrees. Cook ten more minutes or until done.

Try dipping in honey, aioli sauce, or jalapeno ketchup.

Because mine were thicker due to me cutting them and not a machine, it took way more than ten minutes until they were done.

Here are couple more recipes that came with the crisper that I want to try:

Cinnamon Sweet Potato Fries

2 large sweet potatoes

2 tablespoons coconut oil or vegetable oil

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Cut sweet potatoes into two-inch long by 1/4-inch sticks

Place on Gotham crisper tray

Drizzle with oil, sprinkle with cinnamon and salt

Bake for 15 minutes, toss, bake for additional 15 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.

Serve with honey or maple syrup to dip

This one sounds really good to me:

Sweet Potato Garlic Parmesan French Fries

3-4 sweet potatoes

Olive oil

Garlic powder

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

Sea Salt and fresh ground pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Peel potatoes and cut into desired shape (round or fries)

Rinse and pat dry

Place in a dry bowl and coat with 3 tablespoons of olive oil

Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper

Place them in the Gotham air crisper tray

Cook for 20 minutes, stir and cook another 20 minutes, or until done

Remove from oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese

@World Traveler I ordered sweet potato fries at a restaurant once, and they came thick and crispy standing in a cone, all I had for dinner, lol, as when I make fries I like to feast on them without anything else getting in the way.

I have also seen recipes with a coating on them such as corn starch, which I think would be good for extra crispiness.

I am going to try sweet potato fries in the air fryer I bought a few months ago, just havn't gotten around to it.

It's an appetizer at the Elephant Bar Restaurant and it comes in a big fancy wrought-iron-looking holder that is cone shaped, lined with paper (wax?). You can have your choice of dips and I like BBQ. Yummy!

Too difficult for me to cut so I just purchase the frys in the frozen section. I also found sweet potato tots ,I use them at Easter and Thankgiving. They are so-so delicious. And just any time I want something like Ham in the Air-fryer.

I often do sweet potato fries for lunch! I eat a couple a week. Love them savory, not sweet, like some of the ones you buy frozen. Just my choice. Never met a sweet potato I didn't like!

I have never been able to peel sweet potato's and never been able to cut them, also really afraid of the knife slipping.
