Shipping dates for CIJ food items

Just wondering why the shipping dates for CIJ items are not closer to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays? I usually order Cheryl's cookies or Landies pretzels for Christmas but the shipping date is 12/5. I do not want to have to put these items in the freezer beforehand.

The Holiday season is so hectic for not only the suppliers but for the carriers thus it's like an insurance policy to make sure you will get what you ordered.

I believe the early dates are because both of those items ship via UPS Ground and/or UPS Smartpost (getting transferred to USPS for final delivery) and therefore take a bit longer than the two-day shipping options often available for other food items. I know I was a bit nervous about my Landies order last year because it took so long for me to receive them after the stated shipping date, but luckily, they made it just in time.
