If you can go to a Bed Bath & beyond and lift each one, the answer will become clear. There is no comparison between the two. Vitamix is designed for years of use and can handle any job you give it. It's made in the USA, not china. Check out the posts on the TSV in community. Take a look at the youtube post. That should help you decide. I don't want lead in anything that's around my food.

I own 2 Ninja blenders - the short guy and the tall one - for what I need - excellent. However, if you want to make hot soup and all the other demo dishes - get a Vitamix definitely! I'm NOT a big cook so chop and spin foods is enough power for me.

Depends on how you are going to use it. If just for smoothies, the Ninja is good but chances are that once you get a Ninja, you will want to expand your usage, and you will want something more substantial. At least, that's the case for me. I'm saving up for a Vitamix. (although yesterday, my boss told me that she had a Vitamix that she never uses and she would give it to me - hope she follows through!!!!)

It does everything I need and want it to do. I think most of any of them you would be happy with--just take into account how the dials and switches work, the capacity of the container, and how it will fit where you want to put it.

There are two of us and the VM is on a counter in the laundry room right off the kitchen. It is the tall big one so it fits there. Even for just the two of us, I love the large capacity. I wouldn't get a really dinky one.

FYI: If you are a Costco member they have a Vitamix in most stores for around $370. Online they carry a different model that includes the dry container for $499. The dry container is well over $100. The only problem is they are both the 64 oz and I want the 48oz under the cabinet model. Would grab one in a minute. We got the 48oz for our son and his family and love the size of it. Picked it up when it was a TSV a few months ago.

My take, too, is that if you want a Vitamix, wait and get a Vitamix, and if you like the Ninja get that. But it isn't credible to me that the Ninja could duplicate the Vitamix at half the price. Ninja's a good machine but obviously it's not as capable and not as durable. I'd rather they sold their own strengths, including affordability, rather than trying to eat Vitamix' lunch by making inflated claims that just end up feeling shady.

I like my Vitamix 2.25 HP 48 Oz. Very happy with its performance. I do have to admit that the TSV Ninja caught my attention. I am very cautious with food prep and cooking items that are made out of the country, because there are different manufacturing standards, especially with the materials that they can use. For that reason, I try to buy American made as much as possible. I did catch during one presentation of the Ninja TSV, he said that if you wanted hot soup, mix it up in the Ninja, and then heat it in the microwave. The Vitamix tamper is made so that they do not touch the blades---as long as you don't use the 64 ounce tamper with the 48 ounce container!

Vitamix all the way! I am sure many of you noticed that they were trying to market just like the Vitamix presentations, but many fell short. I had to laugh because at one point Bob referred to the Ninja as a Vitamix accidently and corrected himself. If you have to compare yourself to the best and make arguments that yours is just as good for much less money and then your demos show that you may be somewhat similar, but not quite there on many of the applications, then forget it. For about $100-$150 more save your money and get the best...Vitamix!
