Coffee Maker Recommendations

I loved my original Keurig brewer but it finally died last year. I've gone through three of the Keurig 2.0 brewers in less than a year and am now done with Keurigs. I purchased a Cuisinart brewer a few months ago and it works great - but I'm not thrilled with the coffee it brews. It seems weak no matter how much coffee grounds I use.

Anyone have any recommendations for a coffee maker that brews nice, strong flavorful coffee? I only drink regular coffee - so I'm not really interested in the machines that make the fancy coffee drinks. Thanks!

My older sister loves the Bunn coffee maker; brews in 2 minutes. They grind their own coffee beans. DH and I are hooked on Keurig and when one conks out we get another.

We bought a Kitchen Aid coffee maker 2 years ago and it makes great coffee. I drink it black, so it's got to be good and I like it very hot and this coffee maker does it right. In full disclosure, I don't make the coffee, my husband does and he loves the KA coffee maker.

I love my Keurig and have had my machine for 7 years now. I only use bottled water in it and will take a needle and clean out the little hollow piercer that you bring down onto the pod every once in awhile.....and even with bottled water will change the filters. It continues to work like a champ.

I love my ninja and only use it to make a regular cup. Makes it nice and rich and flavorful. Also, the cuisinart grind and brew makes a really good pot.

Another vote for Ninja Coffee Bar. I love mine, I kicked the Keurigs to the curb a long tIme ago.

I have gotten incredibly good coffee from Bunn. The water is always hot. Most resturants use them.

We've had Bunn for years, then when the last one wore out we tried the KA one, it was fine, but I missed the Bunn, so when that KA quit, we went back to the Bunn. Love that hot tank it has in the back - always have hot water for tea, and the coffee we buy is always organic beans, and it makes great coffee.

I bought this Technivorm Moccamaster about 3 months ago, my favorite coffee maker to date. Last one was a Breville that ground the beans and made perfect coffee but the grounds would too often clog in the chute. This Moccamaster consistently makes a perfect cup, rich and flavorful. The beans are as important as the machine if you are particular about flavor. Some models come in colors.

We have an iCoffee and I will never buy anything else. We had to have had it three years or more and (knock wood) not one problem. When I checked on Amazon, I noticed they have changed the outside but basically it is the same.

I don't know how many Keurigs we went through until finally I decided there must be a better one out there. We went to BB&B and as we were checking all the coffee makers out, the salesman encouraged us to consider the iCoffee with the spin technology. I figured what the heck and am so happy we purchased it.

@OKPrincess I try to research all coffee makers I plan to purchase inquiring from the company to see if the reservoir where the water is stored is stainless steel and found that at least 2 of the Bunn models have that. For my husband's use I have a Hamilton Beach carafe - less coffee maker . I love not having a decanter to worry about but to me I smell the plastic . He is not picky as long as he can push a button and have coffee and I do not have to break a carafe. I also have a HB Keurig wannabe for a fast cup in a.m. to wake up. I know the pods are plastic and the water reservoir is too , but somehow it tastes fair & gives me my cup of ambition.

You might want to look into a French Press --that is my next coffee project. There is post about it on this kitchen forum that a lot of devotees helped me with. I have 'googled' a lot about it and am going to try it when I get it altogether. It sounds like that is one way to get a great cup (but a production).

I have family that loves thier Ninja. After all Sofia knows her coffee .

I love my Breville. I have a Breville and a Keurig. I believe they are made by the same manufacurer but the quality is so much better. They have a 5 year warranty! It's great and easy to maintain. Worth every cent!

We've had soooooooo many over the years, some of them quite expensive. The last couple of years we're back to the cheapest Mr. Coffee on the market. It has ZERO bells and whistles and it's a work horse. No problems with it.

DH also has one of the original Keurig minis - we use the filtered water from our fridge. He loves it.

I don't know what it looks like inside the metal encased tower but the water resevoir itself is a quality grade of plastic. Machine materials: "Made with durable metal housings and BPA/BPS/BPF & Phthalate free plastics "

YouTube is a good place to check out reviews and comparisons. Seattle Coffee Gear compares all kinds of coffee makers. (This one I have is recommended highest by Cooks Illistrated and they also have a YouTube video about it. It is made in Holland, not a cheap machine but cheaper than too-frequent replacing of China-made machines.

Gail from Seattle Coffee Gear is a hoot to watch, she knows everything about coffee machines, does blind taste comparisons, gives the review her best recommendation based on her own tastes, of course.

If you are using a Keurig, I take it that you don't want to have to spend a great deal of time dealing with making traditional coffee in a traditional method. I do recommend the iCoffee. The reviews are good by coffee lovers that know how to operate a machine and know what coffee should taste like. I also recommend the Ninja coffee bar. I have this one as I make bulletproof coffee in the mornings (a mix of coffee, butter and MTC oil) and the attached frother really mixes up the coffee well so I don't have to use a hand blender. It does take filters and scooped coffee, so not a quick pod. Both the iCoffee and the Ninja make great coffee because of how they soak the grounds before they begin to fill with water to pump out the coffee.
