For anyone who owns 'GLASS BOWL' KA MIXER - I need help!!!!! TY

I ordered the TSV mixer with the tilt-head/glass bowl feature.

this is the mixer I purchased and "gasket" on bowl

When it arrived the "ring" for the bowl was in the bottom of the packing material NOT factory installed. I had to place it and tighten it.

HERE'S MY QUESTION & ....

Yesterday, was the first day I used it and I see the "beak of the bowl" when it is "locked" into place hits the back left side of the ARM portion of the stand -- it is NOT COMPLETELY LOCKED IN but "almost" locked in.

The bowl is a little UNsteady because as I said it is NOT completely locked in but can't twist any further because of arm.

I had even tried to "reposition" and this seems to be the only way to put it in the stand. It doesn't lock thoroughly coming from another angle - I'm thinking its supposed to "lock" to the left!

Since this is my first time using this style (and I watched the item video and the beak does NOT hit the back of the mixer stand) The beak seems to be facing "left" maybe at the 10 or 11 o'clock position mine as you can see is hitting back of mixer.

I didn't think it would be a PROBLEM but NOW I tried to UNtighten it a bit -- its on there for good. I don't want to force it and end up breaking the bowl or the seal.

I looked at the manual and no directions are given for "releasing and rescrewing" the bottom ring onto the bowl.

UGH>>>> I had 2nd thoughts about ordering this style vs. the true artisan with SS bowl and now I hope this is a easy fix!!!

Of course, I will call QVC & KA on Monday but its just annoying. I have baking/prep to do today for a catering affair on Monday and this is just what I don't need....my lift pro style never had any issues!

If you own this style is your bowl the same position?

If so, any helpful tips.

Or any helpful tips how to UNscrew the gasket!! This is VERY frustrating and I've opted to use my hand mixer at this point!!!

Wonder if the threads weren't seated together quite right when you tightened it down, and now it's just jammed.

You might have to sit down, wrap that bowl in a few dish cloths, and clamp it upside down between your knees (pardon the imagery) while using both hands to unscrew that gasket.

Remember, "righty tighty, lefty loosey" *

* occasionally something is made with "reverse threads". So I would get out something I know is threaded normally and compare.

thank you ... I've tried and tried. It "screwed" on easily...but heck won't come off -- I'm afraid I'm going to break the bowl (clumsy and heavy).

I'm definitely not "happy camper" but I'm sure there is a easy answer -- I just have no patience til Monday! LOL

Is that gasket metal?

If yes, set it under hot running water. If it expands even a tiny fraction that may be enough!

Also, I'd be oiling the threaded area.

Sorry. Im working from memory. My mom's mixer looked just like that, but it was 'new' in 1939, so I presumed that might be a metal piece.

UPDATE:

@Sooner sent me a youtube video. I can't even imagine I just had to UNscrew the bowl plate and turn 1 notch counterclockwise.

Everything is in the right position now!!!

I'm glad you found out how to fix your problem. I too turn to Youtube when I have issues. I love it for car things. I used it to get a stuck tire off.

Just so you know, plastic expands when hot, so if it is stuck again, hot water!

Before you take anything apart - the same thing happened to me.

Try this - when you place the bowl onto the stand, position it so the handle and your hand holding it almost hit the mixer on the right side. Hold it on an angle towards you, so that the opening of the bowl is slanted towards you as if you were looking into it. As you lean it back away from you, It should slip into one of the first grooves and then tighten perfectly. I hope that makes some sense. If not, I'll try to provide clarification.
