My daughter got one & just learning to really cook got a big 6'4" b/f (big eater) I never made one she calls me I said well this has to be cooked long & slow from what I read. It came out great from what she said, so I said next time they are on sale get 2. They got lunch out of it too. She is getting some confidence in cooking. She now thinks she is the cornbeef queen. I am just happy she is cooking more, learning slow cooker with cheaper cuts of meat & season it.oo. They spent so much on fast food (not healthy). I love that she is trying to cook more & learning it's cheaper than going out plus leftovers too. Even the boyfriend cooks too.

Corn beef is usually boiled. As it cooks it can lose some color and get gray. Also fat could be grayish.

I love corn beef so simple to make and delicious.

Enjoy.

i dont think i have ever seen a "gray" corned beef. ours are always a deep pink color. i prefer putting mine in the oven after braising it. i cook it low and slow and get a delicious tender corned beef....add cabbage and potatoes of course.

it takes a while, but it is delicious!

I have never seen or had (that I know of) a gray corned beef. I have cooked them in the slow cooker and in the pressure cooker and I will never use anything but the pressure cooker anymore. Thanks for the tip about TJ's corned beef @Diann. I ill add that to my list. Next week is my monthly trip to Trader Joe's and Costco and I always keep an extra in the freezer for easy meals.

I have cooked corned beef in the crock pot, in the pressure cooker and in the oven---have to say that I prefer the crock pot over the rest. Never been a funky color tho---I also try to cut alot of the the fat off, so the rest of the stuff isn't covered in it ----just me. I also don't cook it with all the veggies but wait till about 2 hours before its done to do that. Way less soggy that way.
