Couldn't believe the price gouging on QVC selling lobster tails for $313..... 8 tails ?!?

I understand some people are landlocked but that price is absurd.

I think it's auto delivery, but not exactly sure. My grocery store has whole lobsters on sale for 4.99 a pound every so often and they will cook them.

I wouldnt call it price gouging as long as a purchase is voluntary and people understand theyre buying a luxury product.

If it is Maine lobster that is very expensive. Warm water lobster is cheap by comparison.

You can get a full lobster tail meal in a restaurant for less than almost $40 a tail. Who buys this stuff???

"Price gouging"? Don't think so. "Absurd price"? Don't think so.

When you accuse a business of price gouging, you're starting down a slippery slope that you might want to start. Absurd is in the eye of the beholder. No one is forcing you to buy that product. Don't like the price? Vote with your feet.

Clearly over $300 for eight tails is expensive. Breaking it down individually into the cost of $39.13 dollars (for roughly one half pound) is eye-opening. How about the discrepancy where each tail is 7-8 ounces where you can possibly be down to what amounts to an additional tail? One extra ounce per tail adds up, right?

Well, it's probably cheaper than you could catch them yourself. You'd have to get to Maine, get a boat, some lobster pots, bait, and then set the pots until you had eight lobsters. Then you'd have to get them back home again. Compared to those costs the $313 is a bargain. Now, it seems kind of pricey compared to what you'd pay in a grocery store, but compared to what it would cost to catch them yourself, it's a bargain.

The price seems rediculous for those of us who have easy access to fresh seafood, including live lobs. I can only guess there might be places in this country you can't get good seafood. But, that being said, there are companies that ship live lobsters for $20.00 per 1 1/4 lb lobster.

I love lobster and drawn butter, but rarely have it aside from a couple of times a year. DH and I were on a cruise a couple of weeks ago. We ate at one of the ship's restaurants one night and I ordered surf and turf. Pig that I am, I ordered the large tail (either 10 or 12 oz.). The supplement charge of $20 was well worth it.

I like a whole lobster steamed. I crack the claws to get the meat. Pull the tail off and pull it out. Suck the meat out of each feeler and find the pieces of meat inside the body. Oh and I need butter and yes I make a mess.
