The one that's melting on the bottom is the Gem. It is not the one that most people have. It's oval and I think only a slow cooker. The article is misleading.

I've had mine around 7 years,,,,nothing but yummy/healthy food quickly in the I.P.! I'll bet this reported meltdown is a rare anomaly. If you haven't bought one, don't hesitate. One of my best kitchen purchases. (I'm thinking of a smaller IP for travel when cooking away from home.)
