You just cant fix stupid

Yesterday I was browsing on Amazon at the Pyrex Baking Dishes with the plastic lids. I scrolled down to read the reviews. One reviewer said the glass pan worked well but the plastic lid melted in the oven! WHAT??!!!!! Good grief.

@Imaoldhippie,

I had 'just' seen that on the screen page/ under KITCHEN, so I thought it had to do with an appliance or recipe. That, even for me, ( not a professional cook, as most are here, ..KNEW THAT!

Nothing worse in the kitchen than having the smell of anything burning, or in 'this situation' a melting plastic lid.

Her oven will have that smell for a very ``l o n g ............time.

Yes, I surmise that being stupid while cooking. I have a new set ( never opened)..using that Lock & lock which is 1/3 off of alignment.

My older Pyrex set of 15 is something I am using now since my kitchen has been remodeled; ` my Pyrex lids are GLASS`.

Sometimes I just stare at what I've read, unable to believe that anyone could be so dense.

I think we would be surprised at the things some of us consider basic and common sense,is not so for others. I knew someone who actually put Elmers glue on a cut on her leg.

Just thinking but maybe they thought it was silicone? I grew up with no plastic in the oven, but the younger generation grew up with silicone bakeware and mats to be used in the oven. Just a thought.

What you got to remember my friends is folks , nowdays, don't know how to cook. Their kitchen work is opening the refrigerator and taking out lunch meat and fetching the bread.

Old geezers like me, when we die out nobody will care about cooking or anything associated with it.

Why people complain they don't have money. They eat out 3 times a day and half of their checks go to McDonald's and the bakeries.

Why people have a wgt problem, too, today.

Why fry a burger at home or cook a pot of beans when you can go thru drive thru and throw the bag in trash.

Sad, out there my friends.

I recently saw a review of Lock n Lock. It was a glass dish with the plastic lid. they gave it a negative review and would never buy that brand again. The reason, they dropped the GLASS dish that had food in it and it broke. Imagine dropping glass and it broke. They couldn't believe it. DUH!!!!!! Me on the other hand would be suprised if I dropped a glass dish and it didn't break. I guess I'm a little strange.

@blackhole99 I think whoever put elmer's glue on a cut was not paying her full attention to the first aid class. If you are in dire straits (like out in the wilderness) and have a large cut you can use crazy glue to hold the skin together until you can get proper care.

This is a fun thread.

I once worked at the Wharton School in Philadelphia and had a conversation with one of the brainy young women professors. We were talking about the cherry blossoms in Washington DC. She said she would like to go there with her little daughter.

A few months later (say September) she came to my office all excited and told me that she was going to see the cherry blossoms on the weekend. When I told her that they only bloomed in early spring, she was totally stunned.

@SharkE In defense of those who don't do a great amount of cooking, many households have both parents in the workforce just to make enough money to survive, and it's tough to work all day (sometimes on your feet), and then come home to cook a full meal, laundry, housework, etc... especially after commuting an hour (or more) each way to/from work.

I wish I had the energy to cook more, but I'm exhausted.

Really nothing wrong with that. I can't tolerate the adhesive on bandaids and use the "liquid bandage" you can buy in the first aid section. It is nothing more than super glue.
