Stick Blender Recommendations

I have a KitchenAid stick blender that I bought from Target for about $89. I've had it for 7-8 years. I use it just about every day and it is time to replace it. The cord is fraying and the rubber base under the blade has separated from the metal.

I wasn't 100% thrilled with this one in terms of chopping. It certainly had enough power, but I didn't feel it blended as well as it should when blending soups in a dutch oven, for example.

KA stick blender $89? You must have bought the 5 speed stick hand blender. I have the 2 speed KA stick hand blender & got it for ~$30.00. The 2&3 speed have the same power. I didn't want all the other 'stuff' with it. Previously I had a Cuisinart Stick Blender, it went out. Both KA & Cusinart are similar. Same amount of power, in 2 speed hand blenders for both. Prefer KA customer service over Cuisiinart.

Yes, mine was the 9 speed with the whisk attachment. I liked the whisk attachment for eggs.

I have the inexpensive Cuisinart one ($30) that I use for dressings and mixing things that are pretty much liquid to start with. I also have an All Clad one ($100+) for emulsifying soups and such.

I got the more expensive one when the cheaper one decided it was no longer going to emulsify my soups, and went on strike.

I'v had a few Kitchen Aid immersion blenders- I find the ones with the metal mechanisms (vs plastic) are far better.

Hard for me to use. Splash all over the place. Got blender with big container put lid on.

The reviews on the Breville say no splashing due to the design.

My KA splashes a lot.

a stick blender is a must have in my kitchen. would never be without one.

my choice is BRAUN. have had it for several years and it is still going strong.

Thanks @sunshine45 I saw the Braun on HSN today and am looking at reviews.

I do like the Braun brand. I have a coffee pot and an electric tea kettle that I've had for decades THey are so old the white is yellowing but still going strong.

I have a Cuisinart that I love. It was a gift from my son at least 5 years ago and I've never had a problem with it. I think he paid $30+ dollars on Amazon.

Update:

I ended up ordering the Breville from Amazon. One issue is that it's too big for a wide mouth mason jar which is where I mix my drinks. So I have to use the container it came with.

Other than that I like the power and that it doesn't splash.

I sitll lhave to make soup with it, that is the true test.

That's what happened when I upgraded my Cuisinart one. The All Clad head wouldn't fit in the container I use to mix salad dressing, so I had to hang on to the Cuisinart just for that purpose. I like to say it's in semi-retirement. It could no longer do the hard jobs, so now it works part time doing salad dressings.
