Who has Samsung Appliances?

Today I went appliance shopping and purchased a Samsung refrigerator and stove. My primary reason was because this brand had a French Door refrigerator that fit under my cupboard. The salesman made a snarky comment about the brand and I was tempted to ask why they sell Samsungs if they are hard to repair. I think his beef was that he wasn't getting the commission because I had the business card of another employee who wasn't there today. Wondering what your experience has been with this brand.

I’ve never had any of their appliances so I can't say how they are one way or another. But some time ago when we were in the market for a new refrigerator, we asked our repairman which brands he would recommend. He said anything but Samsung and LG. I was surprised since that’s the bulk of what is sold around here. I asked him why and he said because you can’t get parts for them.

I hear they are very hard to repair. My friend had a Samsung washer, it needed repair, she called a very reputable repair person in the area, he refused to even touch it, she got rid of it, and it was not old.

Personally, I don't own anything from Samsung, but several friends & family have. They have had nothing but trouble with them. refrigerator-ice makes going out several times. Washing machine, same thing, Tv same thing. Should have asked before you purchased,lol.. Also check reviews on Lowe's or other stores. I don't buy anything anymore without reading reviews, especially appliances.

We bought a Samsung tv 4 months ago and 3 weeks ago it broke. We are in the process of picking it up after major repairs and hopefully it works.

I had a Samsung side by side refrigeration for approx. 9 years I guess it was. The reason we got another one was that it was a counter depth and was so small I just had enough of it. We never had a single problem with it in those years. Now I have a french door LG and so far, so good but it's only been 5 months since I bought it. I've heard nightmare stories about both brands but I think you can get a lemon in any brand so when we buy anything new, I just hope I don't end up with a bad one. One thing about my old Samsung fridge, it was so quiet that you never could hear it run. Quietest one I've ever had in 50 years of marriage. Good luck with your new appliance and I hope you like it.

I've just read more replies to this thread and I'll comment on a few more Samsung products we have or had. 55 inch tv, a 26 inch tv and those two have been so reliable for us that we won't buy anything but a Samsung when it comes to tv's.

The one brand I have refused to buy for decades is GE. And at one time, every appliance in my home was a GE from the laundry room to the kitchen. You couldn't pay me to have bought that brand for at least 20 years.

We've had our refrigerator for 4-1/2 yr and never had the repairman out here. I needed to put it under cabinets in an older home. Love the pullout drawer. Pop and water are kept in there.

I have a Samsung stove, microwave, dishwasher and french door refrigerator. We've had them all about 6 years now and I have no complaints. Guess I'm in the minority.

I have a Samsung French door refriderator. There was a recall on something that caused ice to form inside on the back of it. The repair man fixed it and noticed that one of my shelf’s had a hairline crack in it.

He ordered me a new one and it was here in three days... free of charge. I love my Samsung fridge..

And don't even try to call the CS Department in my case horrible.

and worse there is a bar under each shelve & nothing slides in -- the bar stops it. The other design flaw is the sliding shelf.

of course, these are just MY opinions on my fridge. Ugh...

@AuntG I don't know anything about Samsung appliances, but it is possible that there may be a problem with repair the same way as it is with the Bosch appliances.

The problem with the Bosch brand is not that they are hard to repair, but that it is hard to get the necessary parts. They are still not widely used and they work really well, but if there is a problem you may have to wait a while before they can be repaired.

So I assume it may be the same with the Samsung appliances, but I don't really know.

We’ve had a Samsung side by side refrigerator for years and haven’t had any problems with it (knock on wood).

I wouldn't buy a Samsung washing machine. The problems they had with them exploding turned me off to that.

More than one reputable repair person told me NEVER to buy a Samsung or LG appliance.

Have a Samsung washer, dryer, frenchdoor/bottom freezer-style refrigerator, two tablets and a cellphone. Zero problems. All brands have issues. The Samsung washer issue was fixed and many explosions happened because people were not following instructions on leveling the machine and using the wrong settings and load process on heavy items.

My fridge fits perfectly and I do not know of a split-shelf system that doesn't have brackets avaibke in other brands. Id have to look that up.

I have a samsung French door with the middle drawer. I would NEVER buy one again. We have had constant problems with the ice maker. But with my constant B$&*) I have never had to pay for a repair. We have had it three years. I do have Samsung washer and dryer. Those I like...so far. Only had them for a few months. I love Whirlpool. When we sell our home, I’ll probably sell them with those appliances. When we bought our w/d we originally purchased Whirlpool but they were damaged when they arrived. We had waited for a gas dryer for over a month. So because we didn’t want to wait any longer, we decided to get the Samsung. Been pleased so far, but I prefer whirlpool.

The icemaker has has been replaced 2 times by the way.

I only have a Samsung microwave and I like it. We did have a small problem in the beginning, and two Samsung associates came to the house and took care of it.

We have a Samsung French Door refrigerator. Only problem has been with the icemaker. Had a part break and, if I remember correctly, it did take awhile for that part to come in. Of course the parts are plastic, but I don't think that's strictly a Samsung issue. We do sometimes have problems with the icemaker, but that's because we don't use it enough. It's only the 2 of us, so it builds up and freezes into big chunks.

We also have a Samsung TV 55" TV on the wall. Never had to have any repairs.

For dishwashers, I love my Bosch.

Once Samsung fridge and never again. I did get 10yrs out of it but water & ice despenser broke. Fridge still worked. Had to get the fan replaced after 3yrs never had a fridge do that. It was not the french door model just a side by side. Whirlpool was great but now have a GE so far no problems. Heard LG appliances aren't that good but I never had anything LG. I will say all our TV's are Samsung and we love their TV's.
