@aggravated. What is it exactly? I haven't seen the commercial or even heard of it.

@proudlyfromNJ Oh Gee. The exact name I can't remember - the Eggless or Egglett? Or something similar? TV marketed product and could also be available and Bed, Bath as they seem to carry many of those type products. Little plastic egg shaped cookers - you break open the egg and pour it into the small cooker (1 egg to each) there's a top you screw on and then put in them in a saucepan and boil as you would any hard or soft boiled egg (submerged to the bottom of the screwed on lid. Unscrew the top, turn over, and out pops a perfectly shaped and cooked hardboiled egg. They show a few refrigerated in the "cooker" for storage after cooking. No shell peeling. Dishwasher safe too according to them.

Isn't that basically a poached egg or a coddled egg? I have coddled egg cookers from Royal Worcester from many years ago and use them occasionally.

They are so good! Makes me want one!

ncascade, Is it then one where you crack the eggs and put them in this plastic cup thing and they float on top of the water.? If this is the one, then yes, I season my eggs before I close the cover. They work really well..

proudlyfromNJ,I oddly enough found mine at the Dollar General years ago. But have faith they are getting popular again. Or B.B. & B.I saw them there and some dollar stores or grocery stores sell one or two in a set. I saw them on a commercial and at the dollar store recently, like one or two weeks ago.I am glad I held on to mine I use my occasionally.They aren't very expensive.

I have several egg coddlers. Haven't used them in years. Just got them out. Must say they are pretty.

You are so right! We used to use the egg coddlers frequently and for some reason stopped. I couldn't tell you the last time we used them.

And they are so nice. Was Royal Worcester the only company that made them?

The Egglette is not an egg coddler. These egg shaped orbs are used. You crack your egg in it, cover it, submerge in water to boil, pop the cooked egg out of orb and walla you have a hard boiled egg without a shell. Pretty awesome looking.

The original ones were a pain. You had to oil them, they leaked and were hard to wash. I used mine about 5 times and tossed them. These silicone ones should be better. The concept has always been good. Especially with fresh eggs.

@drizzellla No, there were other companies. One from Ireland made pretty green ones. It's fun to look them up and see the beautiful variety.

@ID2 I'm not sure I see the difference. The cooking method is the same--eggs cooked in a covered container in boiling water. If you just want hard boiled eggs that shell well, you honestly can steam them in the method mentioned above and they shell perfectly. Or if you have a pressure cooker they do too.

BUT if you think you would like these or they look like fun to you, go for it! That's why I bought my egg coddlers a long long time ago and we used them a lot.
