I'm surprised to see the same word used - Spurtle. I would have assumed the vendor on QVC would have trademarked it. However, this (7 pc set) appears to be made out of plastic - and plastic I would prefer. When the vendor divides an egg white from yolk - I always think........well you can't use that Spurtle again until it goes through the dishwasher. Obviously some manufacturer copied the product - made it cheaper and better in plastic.

Looks like the same Vendor's emblem on the packaging to me....Mad Hungry

I would use the same tool again after separating an egg as I hand wash all my kitchen stuff ( I don't own a dishwasher).

@fthunt The silicone ones from Sam's are made by Mad Hungry the same person that makes the Acacia wood sets QVC sells.

I bought those plus have a couple different sets in the Acacia wood Q sells.

HSN has a 3 pc Bamboo set by Simply Ming for $19.99 that comes with a large slotted spurtle, large solid spurtle & small solid spurtle.

A spurtle is a generic term. I believe they were first used in Great Britain, Scotland, more specifically. I first saw them in use on the old Galloping Gourmet television show in the nineteen seventies which starred Graham Kerr.

These are silicone, not just regular plastic....and yes, I agree...Mad Hungry is the SAME QVC vendor,.

They had the silicone ones on Q but they sold out really fast. I got them and like them better than the wood ones.

I had 2 sets of wood...one bamboo, one acacia wood. BOTH had pieces that started to split! I NEVER put wood in the dishwasher. Hand wash only and dry immediately.

Mad Hungry supposedly has a year guarantee. These were UNDER 1 yr. I followed the instructions and emailed pics of the damage and copies of receipts. I NEVER REC'D MY REPLACEMENTS. I emailed and emailed, only to get a 'form' response. QVC C/S had no phone number for me to call. Finally gave up.

The silicone ones are much better and this is a great price!!

Homedecor1, thank you soooo much. I have wished for silicone spurtles and it was a fantastic buy at store you stated. Got them two days ago and love them, the quality, ease of cleanup, how they perform. Thanks again!

My Sam's here in Las Vegas doesn't carry them and they're sold out online. I see Amazon has them for $35.00. I'm not paying that much so guess I won't get any.

@Tyak Amazon also has them for $29 and free shipping--which is a little better.

My Sam's (Ocala, FL) had the multicoloted set shown as well as a set in red. I grabbed the multicolored set, which is a nice complement to the aqua set I bought from the Q (which I saw on air once, and never again -- I guess they sold out). THese are fabulous to use with ceramic nonstick,
