Does anyone Else Have Trouble Cooking On Electric Cooktop With Copper Chef?

Ok, it's not like I cook much anymore. However, I keep buying the Copper Chef pans. I will be up front and say I also bought the Copper Chef Cooktop. However, whenever I try to use those square pans on my Jenn-Aire electric cooktop....ummm...is it me?

I keep thinking I'm not the only person who can't figure out how to make the pan 'fit'! What am I doing wrong? Should I just give up and use the Copper Chef cooktop that's made for the pans?

Is there a trick here I'm not aware of? I know many of you are real cooks and I'm hoping some of you have ideas or maybe you can make me feel better and say, "Annabelle....it's not just you". Ha!

I have a feeling I won't be getting many of the "it's not just you's".

I don't have any copper chef but I do (will have a glass stove installed soon) have a glass cooktop stove & I really hate to cook on it & i love to cook. I have trouble cooking on it & I have really good cookware including lifetime, all clad, or creuset, stain etc.

I've used a Copper Chef square pan on my glass top stove and have discovered that it conducts heat poorly. I made two pancakes in it. One was perfectly brown and thoroughly cooked. The other was pale, runny and needed additional cooking time. I think these Gotham Steel pans are junk.

I recently bought the induction burner with the pan on Evine..have been playing with it. I don't care that much for the burner or the pan, so far anyway.

The pan is square and doesn't seem to heat out to the corners, although it's a nice heavy pan (maybe will work better in the oven) ...

I guess I'm not crazy about a square pan, but still plan on doing some more experimenting with different recipes.. maybe a learning curve? Or maybe what I'm used to using?...so" it's me too!"

Right now I don't think I'll be buying anymore square induction pans in the future...

My dh and I both find it easier to control heat with gas it seems to get hotter. My super wanted to upgrade my 70 year old Royal Rose,which works perfectly, to a new electric stove. After using my daughters no way.

Most chefs wouldn't be caught using electric to cook with. I have never been a great good....just OK, but even I know gas is much better than electric.

We got electric because we had to have an all electric home because gas wasn't offered out where we lived. It still isn't. I had to learn how to cook with it and have never liked it.

I have a lot of those copper pans from QVC but am thinking of giving them away or sending them back. It's just not practical for me (I almost never cook anyway).

I do have that burner thingy they use with the copper chef, I might try using that thing.

We had to replace our gas range last year and I absolutely hate the new one.

All the burners have a higher BTU output than the last one.

One is the super high that lets you boil a pot of water fast.

Two are supposed to be "normal" and the fourth one is a simmer.

Even the simmer burner is only good for boiling water or burning things.

I did buy two cast iron diffuser discs and they have help some, not a lot because once they get really heated up it's back to burnt.

Way I understand it those copper chef skillets are for INDUCTION stoves only. Mine just slid around on my glass top electric I gave it away.

Main reason I bought a electric cooktop is no more cleaning those dirty gas grids all the time. Food spills are a mess I used to have to take those heavy dirty grids and soak them best I could to loosen burnt sugar, etc.

I bet that is a beautiful stove! I looked it up. Don't get rid of it. Your super is crazy!

Seems logical that a square pan won't cook really well on a round electric or gas burner or an induction cooker with round heating element (which they all have).

Sharke, where did you get that idea? You are wrong. Copper Chef pots and pans are for gas, electric OR induction. That said, I still wouldn't buy any of the stuff, but they are intended for use on multiple cooking surfaces.
