Yay? Or nay?? I see the motor speed is 220v. I was going to get the 5 speed but it had so many bad reviews, but then this 9 speed went on sale. I bought it, but it's still processing.

@Rhema I've had the five speed a year or maybe a little more. I've been pleased with it and have made some thick, heavy batches of cookies. No complaints here.

I own the 9 speed and have been very happy with it for jobs where I don’t want to use my big stand mixer. The only problem, which I think was more a fluke than something to be wary of, was when one of the beaters broke in half. It was some time into my ownership and I easily found a replacement.

Yes. I have had mine for several years now with no problems. Oops! I have the 7 speed that I bought from QVC.

I have both a 9 speed and 7 speed and they are both excellent. I bake a lot and the most any good hand mixer ever lasted was about 2 1/2 years and the 9 speed which I use all the time is still going strong over 4 years now and I mix thick cookie doughs all the time.

They came out with a 9 speed one about 12 years ago or so. I purchased it back then and am very happy with it. I don't have a stand mixer so I also make dough with it. It has served me well and I do love all the attachments it came with.

I am looking at a 9 speed too. I purchased a 5 speed at Target and it has no power at all. I took it out to my camper to use for light duty and went back to using my $10 hand mixer that is about 20 yeas old.

I also have a KA stand mixer that is 36 years old and still perfect. I think th older KA products were made better than they are today, just like everything else.

I've had mine since Q offered the 9 speed (at least 10 yrs). I had ordered the 5 speed TSV so glad I received wrong color and could return it.

I have a pro600 KA lift style stand mixer at this point in my life to heavy to move when I need it & I don't do big batches of anything anymore!

I use my hand mixer for everything from whipping cream to

Cookie doughs. It's perfect!

So I ordered the 9 speed hand mixer just in case mine decides to "conk out"!

(did the same thing with my Rowenta when on good sale price on Q - couldn't be without my iron! Best iron ever!)

I have the 9 speed and this Christmas will be 10 years old. Still looks beautiful and is a workhorse. It gets weekly use.

I use the dough hooks to start bread and it cuts thru cookie dough with ease.

Can't recommend it enough!

Just a quick note on mixers in general. For the price of a handheld Kitchenaid, you can get a good stand mixer from Hamilton Beach or Sunbeam. For a tick more (around $120-$140) you can get a well reviewed, heavy duty mixer from China called the Cheftronic or Aicok. Those last two mixers are directly targeting the Kitchenaid market wiht heavy duty motors and 5-5.5 quart bowls. They each come with 2 year warranties (bear in mind that shipping them back for service may not be cost effective, so the warranty may be more of an illusion than real.) They both have powerful motors and good sized bowls. Both are very well reviewed. How well will they hold up? God only knows, but those with them now generally seem pretty happy with them.

It looks like Kitchenaid may be getting some legitimate competition in the mixer market these days. If you're looking for a mixer and on a budget, it's not a bad idea to give them a look.

The 9 speed I have had for a few years now has been good though I don't use it more than once or twice a month. It is a little more powerful than the 5 speed too.

Thanks you guys! Mine just shipped. I got the Burberry. I finally found the 5 speed is 120v and the 9 speed is 220v. I read all the reviews, but it makes me feel better getting input from you guys too.
