GE side by sides are good. They have had a lot of problems with the french door style. They have also been sold to Haier, but I don't think much has changed yet as far as their manufacturing goes. Never had Samsung, but my parents have a Kenmore that was made by LG and parts started falling off of it within a year or two. Important parts - like the ones that keep the doors sealed.

Maybe frigidaire? Whatever you get, inspect it right away. I've just had 2 stoves delivered damaged and learned that Home Depot requires you to repor the damage within 48 hours or you're out of luck. Lowes might be 3 days - not sure.

Good luck!

I have a 15 year old Kenmore single door on top, swing door bottom freezer that is excellent. Glass shelves. No water or ice stuff outside. Simple and plain white. It has the Kenmore brand ( from Sears), but at the time I bought it, it was manufactured by Amana. Highly recommended either Kenmore or Amana. GE good, or Hotpoint/Whirlpool good, if they’re still around.

Agree with everyone not recommending LG or Samsung. Many consumer complaints on those fridges.

We have a French Door freezer on bottom and I HATE it. Not enough space for tall things in the fridge section. You have to dig around in the bottom and it is hard to get things packed in to close it.

I will NEVER have another one of these.

I have a 25+ yo Kenmore bottom freezer traditional style refrigerator that still works great that I just love and would be perfect if the bottom was a drawer instead of a door. People use the refrigerator much more often than the freezer so it's nice not to have to stoop all the time. It has a regular icemaker (no in door option). Too bad they don't make things to last like they used to!

A couple of months ago I thought mine was dying so I started looking for a replacement and I checked out all the major brands. I decided when the time comes I'm going to get a Whirlpool bottom freezer drawer. Just a single door for the refrigerator portion. It had tons of excellent reviews, far fewer reports of problems than other brands, a good warranty on the compressor, and was reasonably priced. I'm more interested in function and durability over fancy, so this seemed the best choice to me.

@Justice4all Please let us know what you choose!

I have a 9 yr-old GE French door top fridge and drawer freezer on the bottom. I think you either love the style or hate it, based on your needs. I like not letting dogs and crawling kiddos into the fridge when I open the doors, compared to a side-by-side. You may have a youngster who won't be able to reach the milk in the French door.

I like the freezer drawer because things never fall off shelves, and I like the wide fridge area compared to a side-by-side.

Good news, you have so many choices. Bad news you have so many choices! Good luck!

@Sooner I have a hack for ya!

We used one of those white coated wire shelf/baskets that you can hook onto shelves and attached it to the back of the wire freezer drawer with white zip ties. You could use twist ties. Do you know the kind of shelf/basket I'm talking about? It gave us several more inches towards the back and kept things from falling in the back of the freezer. LMK if I can help you figure it out - we love our drawer now!
