I've used a Bodum French press pot for years. Not sure I understand your problem. I dump used grounds in the trash and wash pot with soap and hot water or put in dw. Easy. I like French press coffee because it's unfiltered and much more like the rich coffee that we love when are in Scandinavia.

RoyalLioness, I watched the "youtube" video and that method would work, but I think what you might have is a case of too fine a grind of your coffee grounds. That will let it pack so tightly in the bottom of the press it's hard to get it out. You can scrape it out with a rubber spatula, or do the rinse/strain method the video shows, but if you grind your beans more coarsely, you will probably find it comes out of the pot easier. Hope this helps!

We love our French press. We just dump it out in the trash and whatever is stuck we use a long wooden spoon to scoop them out. Than wash with soap and water and the grinds are gone. Don’t worry about getting every single grind. It’s ok if some go down the drain, they won’t hurt your sink.

I dont know why they would be stuck. But if they are have you tried soaking with a little soap?

I agree with CamilleP. I think your grounds may need to be ground more coarsely. My husband and I love good coffee and are pretty fussy about what we drink. We don't use our French Press all that much, but when we do, don't typically have this issue. You could also take a large spoon and get the grounds out that way, if you run into difficulty.

We recently bought a Chemex to add to our French Press and Technivorm. All 3 make great coffee and are interestingly enough, so different in their output. The FP and Chemex are definitely the most smooth. Please don't give away your French Press yet or get frustrated. With a few minor changes, I think you'll be able to overcome this issue. A coarse grind is a must for the French Press.. more so than your regular drip. Let us know what happens.

Good luck!
