I still watch to some extent, but my tv is more for noise in the background than anything, no matter what channel I have on.

Anyone here remember "Door Knock Dinners"? Gordon Elliott (I think is his name) would take a chef and knock on a random door and the chef would make a dinner with what they could find in the peoples fridge, freezer and cupboards. Some of those chefs were magicians! It was really fun to watch

cookin

I stopped watching almost entirely, except for Ina Garten. I stopped watching Pioneer Woman about a year ago,it was repetitive and her recipes were gross. They go by ratings, so I guess people want to see endless Guy Fieri shows, and other nonsense.

I watch DDD from time to time but there is a sameness about those programs that have become boring...BBQ and overly spicy food that burns the gut. To me, that’s not good food. In general, most of the Food Network programs feature REALLY unhealthy food. I love fat and carbs as much as anyone but once I see those immense amounts of butter going into a pan, I know I’d get sick.

I ONLY watch "Barefoot Contessa" and "Good Eats" ( at 3am when I can't sleep!)

The other stuff is KRAAAP, like most everything on TeeVee today.

If it's loud, boorish, childish, crude, moronic, or infantile,it gets ratings.

Quiet explanations and actual COOKING is out.

I like Meredith on QVC too....calm, quiet, and teaches how to. I especially like her Christmas show last year while QVC was off-air.

My bedroom TeeVee is 27 years old. I ONLY watch "old shows" on it, because in my opinion, they're all that's worth watching.

I'm going to have a party when that TeeVee turns 28 in 2018...I've had it through seven moves, one marriage/divorce, and two long-term relationships!!!

It's still broadcasting clear..I love the electronic "snap" when it comes on and warms up, and the sound is better than the tinny speakers on today's TeeVee...I can't bear to throw it out!!!

And bring in a new HD flat screen TV?!?!?!

Never!!

I would NEVER hurt it's feelings like that!!!! I remember carrying it up the stairs in 1990 when I purchased it!!!

Call me crazy, but then again, I'm not on Facebook either.

My Sanyo 26" tv that I had in my family room --- was 30 yrs old. People told me to buy a flat screen - but I said, there's nothing wrong with it - so I'll keep it. Finally, the audio quit (the pic was still great). That was 3 yrs ago - and I now love my 40" Samsung flat-screen tv. Purchased from costco on-line for $300. My old tv was almost $600.

In my upstairs bedroom, one of my ex-roomies moved out 9 yrs ago, and left me his tv. The sound also started going and I could barely hear some channels. Costco was selling a 24" Samsung flat-screen tv for $110. and I purchaed it. So much better.

I gave up on the Food Network several years ago, simply because it's all competition shows and DDD. I'm not even remotely interested in the stuff on FN now and I don't know when the last time was that I watched anything on FN.

CREATE is a PBS channel. You can watch America's Test Kitchen, Cook's Country, Simply Ming, Sara Moulton, the old Julia Child shows, Martha Bakes, and other cooks who actually cook.

Some of the newer shows are excellent, too: Kevin Dundon's Modern Irish Food is excellent. So is AnnabelleLangbein's The Free Range Cook is a great show. I also like Pati's Mexican Table.

They actually cook on those shows. And they're interesting.

It was really fun to watch

cookin
