Walmart Grocery Pick-up

I've had good luck with Walmart's grocery pick-up. I haven't had to wait when I arrived, and everything has been fresh. I usually go inside and do my own shopping though. Today I decided to use it, because Walmart is so crowded on Saturday. I had to wait 20 minutes for them to bring my groceries out. Then when I got home I noticed my cottage cheese expires on the 9th (today is the 7th). I bought a large carton. That really irritates me. It was $3.98, and I will return it. What a hassle.

@NickNack, I haven't used the service yet, but I am interested to know if you use coupons. If you do, how does that work? My other concern is what happened to you today. I don't want anything that would expire in a day or two and then have to return it to the store. Negates the purpose of this service.

@SXMGirl I don't think it would be possible to use coupons and order online. I've done this four or five other times and never had anything close to the expiration date like this. I almost always get cottage cheese or milk or something that I like to get the furthest away expiration date on. I was just really disappointed today. I may not do this again because of my experience today.

That's always been my fear with someone else picking out my groceries. We have that service now with one of our grocery stores but I have yet to use it.

I buy Mocha Mix but it lasts me about 3 weeks. I just went into my grocery store yesterday and all the cartons had expiration dates about 5 days from yesterday.... that wouldn't work for me....

But I do plan to try it one day.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the Wall mart Pick up. I have been using it for over a year and they have told me if I have a problem to call them at the pick up number and they will credit me. Also they show me my produce before they put it in the car. On Friday, Saturday for Sunday you usually will wait 15-25 minutes for them to put it in your car. I have gotten away from those days and the 5PM-6PM time slot. I have found Wednesdays the best day with the freshest items and very little wait time. Give the number a call before you go into the store. Everyone is correct, they cannot use coupons at this time but are looking at it working in the future. No I don't work for them, just someone that has 2 bad knees, bad back and bad hip and cannot walk around a grocery store and this has been a godsend for me. My best experience was for Thanksgiving, not going anywhere near the store!

The closest stores that offer this service are nearly an hour away so I haven't tried it yet.

While browsing online at both Walmart and Amazon Prime Pantry, I notice the selections are really, really limited.

In the case of WM If it's available instore, doesn't mean it's available online.

Thanks for the tips @aunt bea. I will call the pick-up number before going into the store if I can find it. I will definitely avoid them on weekends in the future if I decide to use them again.

@aunt bea Thank you SO much for telling me to call them to refund me for the cottage cheese! They were glad to do it, and it saved me a trip to Walmart tomorrow. Now I'll just have to go somewhere and buy some more.

It started out very good for me but has kind of gone downhill. The order I picked up last week-end was missing 3 items plus they didn't delete the order so now I can't enter a new one. I also had to wait 20 or so minutes for them to bring out my order which is unusual.

@Snowpuppy You must be checking the wrong function at Walmart. Their grocery selection includes virtually everything in the store including pets, drugs, hardware, and etc.

I use Kroger for pickup & I'm pleased with it. I use the feature where you can write instructions for items & I ask for the lastest dates & no substitutes, it has worked well. I pickup Wednesdays or Thursdays mid morning with no wait & they give refunds with a call. One time they gave another order by mistake, I drove away & stopped in an adjioning parking lot to put cold items in a cooler, returned to the pickup area & they gave me $25.00 off my order....wouldn't mind that happening again, lol. In my area WM, Meijer & Busch's all offer this service & some have home delivery too.

@Snowpuppy Walmart's grocery section is completely different from just regular Walmart ordering. When you go to Walmart's website, at the very top on the right click where it says "groceries." That's where you'll find everything that's available to order for pick-up.

@kitcat51 I haven't used Kroger for pick-up yet, although it's available. That's great that you can write instructions. I may try their pick-up sometime, although I like to go in the store and stop at Starbucks on the way out.

Best in the world here. The girl also brings out an extra small bag of free items to try and a bottle water.

And get this, they didn't have the pizza on my list, so they gave me two other ones as a substitute.

No waiting, no anything.

I have not tried the "pick up" option at Wal Mart, but I love the delivery option!! I highly recommend it!! Of course, I don't order fresh foods or refrigerated foods. The on line available items includes just about anything in their store. Always find the things I am needing. There are some that cannot be delivered, but they have not been on my list.

I order can goods, cereals, condiments, cleaning supplies, canned drinks. facial supplies, paper goods and water!! It is a God send for me. My Fed Ex or UPS guys bring my heavy boxes inside the front of my house. I can open boxes there and put items away! I have a bad back, bad knees and this service saves so much wear and tear on my body parts!!

Walmart should come and pick up the cottage cheese but I am sure they won't. How dare they send you that knowing the expiration date.

@Katcat1 I called the grocery pick-up area, and they credited my account for the cottage cheese. I did appreciate that. I got an e-mail saying they had credited my account.

@NickNack I think the cottage cheese will be fine for a few days past expiration.You can tell by smell.I read to store it upside down in fridge to make it last longer.
