Temptations

I have had Temptations cookware for several years and now some of my pieces have begun to crack. This is very disappointing!! Has anyone else had this problem?

There are many threads about Temptations cracking. Did you just post for the first time to ask this question? Or are you stirring the pot? Those who love Temptations will continue to buy it. I no longer buy it.

I have many Temptations pieces and over the last 5 yrs I have had one 13x9 baker crack on the bottom during baking and a casserole dish also crack but I love my Temptations and usually do put a cookie sheet under my bakers. There isn't a day that I'm not using a Temptations bowl or baker.

I saw ceramics at Costco that looked like temptations floral lace...beading and all.The beading wasn't brown though.

@Cricket0626 Ha! There's a huge club of owners of cracked Temptations. We've had some sad stories of the stuff failing during important occasions. It's not quality bakeware.

I love Temptations, but will no longer buy it especially for gifts. My sets are old and have held up well, but my last couple of orders were defective and returned. I won't try again. Also, I don't need the mess/danger of one cracking in the oven.

My set was a gift and I've never seen the pattern on QVC. I used it twice this weekend and have not had any problems with their products.

I've used Temp-tations for years. In fact I have two zucchini breads in the oven now with Temp-tations loaf pans. I am never disappointed with the results. They turn out beautifully. Yes, they do craze, like all stoneware does. I had one lid-it crack when I roasted veggies at 450 degrees a few years ago. I think they are amazing and use them on a weekly basis for everything.

I received a temptations loaf pan as a gift last year. It has preformed well, no cracks no complaints. I won't be buying any of the Temptations products, not because of good/poor quality, but because I think the designs are ugly. If I purchase bakeware with designs on the outside they have to appeal to me. Temptations does not. Get some new designs going. Same ole' same ole' for years.

I think they are pretty, but am concerned about the quality of the paint ever since the whole made in china lead paint problems. But you are right - they are pretty much the same as they were years and years ago. I'm astonished how many of them are sold. How many baking dishes do people need?

I also wish they'd get some new patterns. I find some older patterns occasionally at consignment shops and I scoop them up. I am so tired of everything being made in Old World which I never cared for. I have a few pieces of Floral Lace, but am quickly becoming tired of that as well.

I have a couple pieces in a black Toile pattern which was beautiful, but they never expanded that line to include more items. I also have Petals, Polka Dot, and Bouquet patterns which I love. I think the reason why I love the older patterns so much is because they only made a few items in that pattern, so I never got tired of seeing them.

I have a few in the polka dot pattern and am surprised that Tara didn't expand that line. I have the set that came in the matching carrier and another set of bowls. I also have a couple of sets in other patterns that seem to be "one set only" of those styles. I think those are some of the prettiest I have and I have a lot. No plans to buy more mostly because of the fear of them cracking like others have had happen and I really don't need more. Won't chance buying any for gifts now either.

When your Tempations bowls or bakers craze or crack, or, if you're just tired of them and want some new ones....

use them for outdoor flower pots!!! I have quite a few that I just put a plastic flower pot into and voila, in a few weeks from early spring, the foliage and flowers fill in the top area and they are very pretty.....You can put a few small stones on the bottom to elevate the plastic pots so the plant doesn't sit in water...

In fact, I've even bought some of the larger bowl sets just to use as flower pots.

And, if you have an electric drill with a 1/4" masonry bit ( ask your husband!!!) you can CAREFULLY drill one of two holes in the bottom for drainage.

Sometimes they will shatter, most times not...

They really look very nice, and even if you just get one season out of them, better than just tossing them in the garbage when they craze or crack!
