I ordered some for my brother a couple of years ago and he told me they were terrible and threw them out, he is very fussy but as I read this what he said was true.

My mom and I were regular crab cake customers. She always had them in her fridge with auto delivery. We loved them! I stopped when the last 2 orders just weren't the same as previous orders. The taste was off and they were smaller with less meat and more fillers. My mom had the same experience, so she stopped ordering too. Then they just disappeared. I would be willing to give them another try as long as there was a money back guarantee. The original crab cakes were delicious! I wonder if they have been able to recreate the original recipe.

Yes, you are right about the Lite Bites and the rep. was the son of QVC's founder. (Siegel, I think.) Bee Alive and Shari Lieberman's products were also involved in law suits for making claims that could not be substantiated. I did get a few dollars back from the Lieberman's products. I was on AD for Lite Bites for a long time, but didn't receive anything from them. Never tried Bee Alive. I think the woman went on to have an infomercial selling the product. I did see her after she left QVC.

I ordered once. I don't eat crab, but my DH hated them.

Same thing happened to the Lite Bites guy. There were people calling in who were rehearsed. QVC doesn't tolerate that.

I think the Lite Bites also had the problem in that it couldn't be proved that they helped with weight loss. (I thought they tasted good and made a nice snack.)

Yes, it was RON and Margie.

Previous posters are also correct that it wasn't so much the decline in quality that got them thrown off the island but the fact that their employees were posting phony reviews. Oddly enough, that fact was called to QVC's attention by posters on these boards. The tipoff was that all those fictitious posters used similar sounding nics, like "Aunt Mary," "Uncle Phil," etc. And they also only reviewed the crabcakes, not one other product. QVC was not amused.

As I recall, they disappeared about the same time as Bob B., late 2008.

I think what happened was they grew too quickly. They could no longer keep up with the demand so they decided to make a business decision that wound up killing their product: importing blue crab from China. I don't trust the quality of the waters off China and will not eat any food from their. I remember even pet food from China had issues a few years back. The quality deteriorated, bad reviews started coming in and sales dropped like a rock. It's a classic case of corporate greed. They basically shot themselves in the foot.

Somebody posted Bob Bowersox was down in the Keys doing local theater. He's also been spotted on Shop NBC as a vendor for the Sharper Image I believe.
