I have a battery operated salad spinner and it's great when I used it. It was a novelty item and now it sits in the cabinet under the sink. The cover it heavy, it does the job, it's cool to watch but its a pain to wash and especially to dry.

I should get it out, I have a head of lettuce in the frig that could use it.

Thanks for the reminder, I think I paid about $30 + for mine too.

Asking if any one used a battery operated one? I had found one on Amazon but it was $47 and change. I put it on my wish list and they lowered the price to $37. So I bought it. I used it for the first time today and its great. Just hold down a button and it spins like crazy. Looks like a car wash when you look though the windows. For me it is well worth the $37.00.

I think I paid around $9 for my salad spinner I bought at Aldi's a few years ago. It's not battery powered. You have to move the handle back & forth on top but it only takes a few mins. I cannot believe all the water it gets out. I hate wet soggy lettuce.

Much fresher, and one less chemical to worry about.

I used to buy the prepared bag lettuce too, but hubby and I started eating a lot of salads, so I started buying the Romaine Hearts and they definitely need soaking. I had bought a spinner that the handle needed turning. I could not get it to work right most of the time and then the little basket warped and it would not work at all. So I indulged my self and bought the battery operated. Makes me happy.

I imagine the closer to the bottom where the ice has melted would be an issue with soggy lettuce. We really did not have that issue. There was some type of drain on the one they used. No telling how they do it today. It probably comes in huge bags.
