I miss Adore, too, but I understand her reluctance to return to the board. She had a large presence, and many of us miss her menus and recipe chit-chat. Plus, she is a warm and caring person. If she reads this by chance, I just want her to know that I have not forgotten her. (And I was aware of Redman, too. He seemed like her very good friend.) Happy New Year to both!

I am happy to report that Adore is ok. I heard from her tonight. She wants to thank those who were supportive of her on this forum, but the vicious attacks on her have made her choose to stay away. I can't say I blame her one bit. I was outraged at that hateful thread. I never dreamed anyone could be so rude to someone as kind and loving as Adore. I hope she will reconsider at some point, but I can truly understand her feelings after having read the hateful words directed at her.

Santorini, I truly understand why Adore would want to stay away. Who wants to be misinterpreted and/or "under attack" by people who choose to misinterpret you or your motives? Because of the anonymity of this forum and communication via computers, some folks allow their ugly, bitter and aggressive natures to come out. It is so odd, but our local NBC evening news commentator had something to say on this very topic tonight during his end-of-week, Friday evening comment. First, he said that he and his fraternity buddies recently had a reunion, and they all agreed that 2013 was a dreadful year (I agree) and that people seem to be more unkind to one another than ever before. He then went on to describe this unbelievable phenomenon of people spewing their venomous remarks on forums such as this. I know that we are born with different natures, but perhaps just holding back on an ugly thought will help many of us.

Adoreqvc, if your reading this I hope you will consider returning to the boards. I was even going to start a shout out to you when I came upon this . Just want you to know I very much miss your posts about every thing. You are such a wonderful poster with so many good thought and ideas from cooking to decorating. I cannot imagine anyone saying anything unkind to adoreqvc. Such a lovely and obviously caring person. I'm sorry I missed that thread. I would have been in there taking up for her for sure. Then, people would have had more than one person to attack!! I do know how it feels to have your post misread and misunderstood by some and that's when the attacks begin. I've posted less and less myself. The boards can be unkind and it seems that it's the same posters who never have a kind word.

I do hope that she is well and had wonderful holidays to tell us about if she ever decides to post again.

Hi, Goldie. I agree with everything you said. It's so unfortunate that people have become so rude. I know there are plenty of good people here. I just wish the "bad" ones would go away. It's a shame that the horrible people drive away the good ones.

Adore was always there to support anyone who needed comforting words, and she enthusiastically shared her love of cooking with all who wanted to participate. I think sometimes people troll this board looking for certain key words, and then call in the troops for a pile-on. It's pathetic and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw some of the cruel words written in that thread. She didn't deserve any of that negativity.

Santorini, that thread was one of the most bizarre I have ever encountered on this board. It had a "mob mentality" about it, and many posters seemed to have lost their sense of reason. It was so illogical and bent on attacking Adore (who unwittingly, innocently posted something that set off someone and her minions) that one could sense the blind and frightening force of a mob from the words being slung back and forth. It was scary because anyone of us could be on the receiving end of such an attack if all the pieces fell into place. Who wants that? Who needs that? No one. That is why it is best not to be too open; I am now, and heaven knows what might follow.

It is better to deal with nothing but light subjects and in a very light manner.

santorini, Thank you for the update. I, too, am relieved to know she's okay but disappointed she's staying away from the forums. I just posted on another thread about this, too.

I wasn't witness to the events that upset her, but I had my own experience. I made the mistake of mentioning a devastating personal loss several months ago and a couple of established posters used the occasion to write hurtful, dreadful things. As happens here, a few "new" nicknames appeared and followed suit. I didn't return since my life and health plummeted at that time, but I decided once I was ready to start posting again I wouldn't allow a handful of unkind posters to dictate where and how I post.

Genuinely, I feel the overwhelming majority of posters are good, helpful, well-intentioned, and supportive. And, most likely, the negative posters (especially the "newer" ones) are created by only a few people hiding behind fake accounts.

Not having adoreqvc here is a big loss to a great many of us, but she certainly should do what she feels is best.
