      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;a href="https://community.qvc.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/11034"&gt;@Shanus&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp; I wish!&amp;nbsp; When the vascular surgeon strongly suggested I change my diet a year back so I might avoid carotid surgery, I eliminated lots of foods I love so that I could control the cholesterol.&amp;nbsp; There used to be lots of eggs and cheeses and seafood in my house as well as some red meat.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now -&amp;nbsp; fish and chicken&amp;nbsp; most often, but I do eat carbs, too.&amp;nbsp; But I portion control them very, very carefully.&amp;nbsp; I know lots of dieters hated the old Weight Watchers measure and weigh procedures, but they always work (when I use them) and that's what I do.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Just paid a visit this week to my primary and I'm down 48 pounds over the last year.&amp;nbsp; That and a small amount of walking which is what I can manage has made me feel better and both my primary and the vascular surgeon say I've avoided needing the surgery for now.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've never had success sticking to any eating plan where I had to eliminate anything except the junk food I ;ove -&amp;nbsp; I know I can't control that, so now I limit that to times when I have guests and that's woring right now, but maintainance has always been a problem for me, so the road ahead could still get bumpy.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have gleaned some ideas from George Stella's website: &lt;A href="http://stellastyle.com/" target="_blank"&gt;http://stellastyle.com/&lt;/A&gt;. But you have to watch these, because he uses a lot of cheese, etc. Allrecipes.com has low carb options as well. I started eating "good" carb about 5 years ago. Basically, I cut out all of the processed food. Instead of bread and other grain based-processed food, I eat barley, steel cut oats, lots of high-fiber veggies and fruits, and of course meat - mainly lean pork, chicken, beef and fish. Don't eat anything if it was something else first. This will naturally eliminate the bad carbs. By changing my diet and moderately exercising, I lost 60 lbs. in about 9 months. I've since allowed a few things back into my diet, like whole wheat pasta and the occasional chocolate chip cookie. You can't be too strict, or you'll blow it. Right?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color="#993366" size="3"&gt;My last wellness early this year did it for me and my cholesterol. Everytime I think I'm doing better in the food category my LDL tells me otherwise. HDL is great So I must be doing a couple of things right.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color="#993366" size="3"&gt;Fish &amp;amp; chicken, I do it too. I do turkey and pork too but stopped beef yrs ago. I totally stopped snack foods which is or was huge for me. Pasta anything is once or twice a month. Bread was huge too, this too is rare but I buy better bread (no bromine for sure ie thyroid). Much more fruits &amp;amp; veggies, lots of salads. Dinners are a meat or fish and veggies &amp;amp; salad. No desserts or another rarity. &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color="#993366" size="3"&gt;Now that the thyroid (hypo) is pretty much under control at least so far so good after 15 months, things are turning around esp'ly dropping weight - 10 lbs so far in about 4 mths that I've noticed it. Very happy! &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

More likely I'd be annoyed that I'd have to interrupt what I was doing and go eat&amp;nbsp;&lt;EM&gt;again,&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="lucida sans unicode,lucida sans" size="4" color="#000000"&gt;I ate 6 times a day, but my total caloric intake alternated daily between 885 and 1200. About one third of my protein was from egg white, a third from isolated soy protein which I would flavor differently each day and make into a filling shake around 5pm, and the last third was from animal/fish. Since these also carry both saturated fats and cholesterol, that was factored in to my selections.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="lucida sans unicode,lucida sans" size="4" color="#000000"&gt;Animal/fish proteins included turkey, tuna, cod, chicken, salmon, and least frequently was red meat. 2 of the 6 daily meals was from animal/fish.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face="lucida sans unicode,lucida sans" size="4" color="#000000"&gt;They rotated in a way that prevented boredom. I do eat small meals all day, but consume about 1800 calories. I don't need to lose weight and exercise every day, so on days that I run and/or take longer walks w/ dogs, I add 200 calories.
