We use ours quite a bit. Wings, stuffed mushrooms, fries, sweet potato fries, etc. I've done frittatas that turned out quite well. several different kinds of shrimp, pork chops, chicken thighs. I have Meredith Lawrence's cookbook and have tried the Cauliflower with Lemon Dressing, Stuffed Tomatoes, Hasselback Potatoes, etc. I have also tried various online air fryer recipes....some worked out, others, well, not so much.

There's a learning curve; I don't know anybody who made absolutely perfect French fries on the first try (although I'm sure somebody has, of course). I think you need to experiment with an air fryer. It took me a while to get the knack of "baking" a little chocolate cake that suited me.

That being said, we do like ours. I probably use it a couple times a week and I like playing around with recipes for it.

We have two. One is the TSV from PowerPro that QVC sold, and the second is the same maker in the 5.3 size. They're probably the most used appliances in the kitchen. The above poster was right when she said that there's a learning curve. You'll have to learn which times/temps suit your tastes. The smaller size is good for cookiing for one....sometimes two depending on what you're making.

I also bought the Cooksessential smaller one. Like you I hesitated a long time. This one is big enough for 2 people but I am alone. I have used it everyday since I got it, 14 days.. I bought the frozen chicken from the Q. make 3 of them, so good. Also I buy frozen breaded salmon from my Kroger store. I didn't find it hard to make, a friend told me do fish at 400, for 10 min. and so I gauge everything now by that. You can open the drawer and see what your cooking. I did not get an extra pan with this, so I'm not sure if I can put a little metal pan in it, really not interested in baking cakes. It's enough for me. Hope you get one, you don't have to be a chef to cook in it. also bought both Eric's and Merideths books, haven't tackled anything in them yet. The fryer came with recipes I got. Invest I don't think you'll br sorry.

I have to be careful of fats on my food but if I could soak it with butter on the outside it might have been good. I never made another one in there. To get the cheese melted I had to cook it longer. Maybe at a lower temperature and left in longer it would have been better. I gave my air fryer to my grandson so I will check out Emeril's new air fryer in a few days when it is the TSV. Everything else was delicious I made in Emeril's first air fryer.

I made a baked potato (cut in half) then did my steak in it. My steak was browned and moist and no mess to clean up!

The wonderful thing is everything is moist and cooks evenly. You can put food from the freezer section and cook them, but I use it like oven/broiler/toaster oven!

I'm getting acquainted with my airfryer and recommend cooking thicker steaks using the stove. Tonight I fixed two seasoned strip steaks and true, it was less messy than giving them a good sear on the stovetop with a finishing off in the oven but the old way is better, imo. The texture was a little different and the browning was barely adequate, not top notch for this cut but I had to try.

I had previously made Meredith Laurence's spicey flank steak recipe which was marinated overnight and delicious but it was a thinner cut, too.
