Salad Spinner Question

I have never had one, so I bought one, well it lasted about 3 or 4 uses. The inner basket warped and the lid with the handle would not fit tight and spin anything. Now I am back to drying the lettuce wraped in my cotton towels to dry. (never put it in dishwasher).

Now for the question. I found on Amazon an electric spinner. Has anyone used one or have one? Before I spend $45.00 on one I would like to know if it works.

Sounds like you got a reject salad spinner, what a bummer! I have a regular one that I got at Costco a while back, it's the OXO brand. It works great & I love it...I eat a ton of salad & got sick of using a million paper towels. I've never heard of an electric spinner...if you get it I hope you like it & that it lasts a long time...

I have an OXO spinner also. Have had it for at least 8 years. I put it in the dishwasher.

I think you got a dud too. I've never used an electric salad spinner. Honestly, I didn't know they existed.

I have the Progressive Collapsible 3 qt spinner. It folds down flat so it's easy storage. I've had mine for at least 6 to 8 years, use it weekly, still going strong. Think I paid around 15.00 for it at Walmart or Amazon. Not sure I would invest in a 45.00 spinner.

My spinner is also OXO. It works like a charm and - best part - doesn't use electricity or batteries or have a built-in digital clock.

My Costco also sells the salad spinner and the good news is if you get a bum one you aren't out any money. If you are a Costco member that's where i would be heading.

OXO spinners are great, not expensive, and do the job they were made for without bells & whistles. If mine were to somehow break, I'd not waste a day before replacing it.

I have two, the OXO where you pump a knob thingy up and down to make it spin and a really old one, a Triumph brand where you have a little knob you spin round and round in a small circle. I usually opt for the Triumph one because I think it removes more liquid more quickly. Maybe it's just my imagination but I'm convinced of it.

I have to OXO too, lasts for years

I use it to wash my grapes too, fill it up with water then take out the basket

I have a large Spinner that I bought at now closed k mart and have used for years....Ive also seen the one I have in the grocery isle of kichen gadgets.Mine has a spinner knob on top and you turn it as fast as you want love it....Bought a mini spinner just big enough for a small amount of lettuce for sandwich I use it almost everyday I don't remember which catalog it was in something like Walter Drake . It will do a better job than the big one so many times you need just enough for small salad or few serving of fresh fruit....Love these gadgets..

Another OXO salad spinner owner here; it's the kind with the pump top.

I've had it for 10+ years and it's still spinning strong. A few of the rib areas on the inner basket have broken off but that hasn't interfered with the processing.

Why would anyone even need an electric salad spinner? Is spinning a few lettuce leaves such a chore that an electrical assist is necessary?

I have an OXO salad spinner that is years old. Works every time. I don't think I would invest in an electric spinner. Check out BBB and use a coupon.

@Kachina624, that was my first thought. But then I had a second thought. :-) I have an excellent salad spinner that you do need to spin (not a press-down type). In that case, it would be difficult if I had any related physical problems.

I have a large Pampered Chef Salad Spinner, about 20 years old and still looks like brand new. I always wash it by hand, but, I would love a electric one. I have a very weak right arm and hand and it is hard for me to spin it for any length of time. I haven't bought the electric one yet, just because my cabinets are screaming at me!

Get the Oxo push down salad spinner. It will last for years and do a great job. End of story.

@Kachina624...................no its not such a chore, but this was my first experience with a spinner and it was not a good one. I wanted to see what others used and advise on a good brand. Im 72 and have lost a lot of grip and strength in my hands, so I was just checking this out.

Best one is made by OXO. Available at many stores for less than $20. Spin manually. Dishwasher safe. Well made, simple to use, AND to store. Have had mine for 11 years without any problems.

It's a no brainier how to use. Skip the electric salad spinner. Waste of money.
