I spent 250 on a Kitchen Aid Food processor with the whole dicing do dad, etc

Now, I'm thinking about going back to a Walmart Oster like the one I gave away when I bought the KA

KA 's lid is so hard to get just right for the unit to work. Take it off and on, off and on about 5-6 times gets aggravating. I greased the inner seal of the lid to make it not so tight and slide better. I know it's a safety feature, but, geez, make life simpler. I'm wore out trying to make cole slaw and have to take that lid off at least 3 times to empty the bowl when your making a big ol' batch of slaw.

Got to be an easier way. I remember my Oster was easy as pie.

Because I bought the 250 Kitchen aid and thinking it was gonna be all that and a bag of chips. LOL Didn't know the container lid was gonna be so hard to work with.

Don't get me wrong it's a great machine. I like it and the ability to make your own potato chips and slice them paper thin is great, but, that taking off and on the lid is a PITA

Gosh, I'm being insensitive. I'm sorry about your problems with the KitchenAid add-on. Because I ditched a Kirby with tons of attachments that never quite performed as well as standalone tools, I always figured those add-ons also probably wouldn't work quite as well as a separate mandoline, julienner, spiralizer, etc. They don't go as far as the Kirby, which had an attachment for grinding and sharpening knives, and I know KitchenAid is a quality brand, but there are limits. I've read of complaints about their food processors having tricky lids, too.

Have you tried contacting KitchenAid to see if they have ideas for the problem? Perhaps the lid has been updated with one that functions better.

I bought the 12 cup? when that was the largest model a few years ago thinking it was all that & a bag of chips, too.

I had issues with the turn/lock lid, too. Mine didn't exactly click like the demo. It was a total pain. That and you have to pre-chop before you use the feed tube to chop. Wasnt exactly the time saver either.

Wound up selling it on the bay. Got nearly what I paid for it so lesson learned.

I agree. I'm sure it would be worth the price. Google should be working on that instead of an automated car. Get us an automated stove and Hoosier cabinet!!! We already have automated floor cleaner robots. It shouldn't take much more to do this.

My sister loves retro refrigerators. Think they're made in England to expensive. Since I'm a kitchen gadget freak I like to watch old episodes of Leave it to Beaver, etc. and see what they had to work with back then.

June Cleaver stands there mixing stuff in her pearls and heels everything is spotless she's got her hair done, her dress is pressed, etc.

Nowdays, we get up stumble into the kitchen looking like death hahhahahah

I do the same thing. The Andy Griffith Show is my favorite of all time. When they have kitchen scenes I scrutinize everything. I know life was harder then, but I seriously think I was born in the wrong era. I also like the kitchens in Denis the Menace and Bewitched, among others.

However, this is just a hunch... but I'm guessing that all women did not look like June Cleaver when they worked around the house!

Here's one truth that really burst my bubble - Aunt Bee, from the AG Show, was played by Frances Bavier. Evidently, in real life she was nothing like her character. When she died it was revealed that she had been living in a filthy house full of cats. So sad :-(

I don't doubt it.

The I Love Lucy set was a mess too. Lucy kept Vivian Vance in check (Ethel) Fred and Ethel couldn't stand each other. Desi would **** anything that moved made Lucille's life a living misery.

Andy Griffith couldn't stand his own son and from what I can glean he disinherited him when he kicked the bucket.

All that shines isn't gold.

People are people no matter what era. Just don't see the wild swings you see today. I'm glad I was around when people at least acted like they had some sense whether they did or not. ROFL

Oh my, back in the 50's I can remember my mom and grandma always in a dress and nylons looking like they were ready to go, even when working around the house. Albeit, no pearls. I can't imagine that today. It was a fun time though. I thought my aunt, who was considerably younger than my parents, so cool, because she dyed her hair and wore slacks!

I remember my grandmother cleaning house and doing the gardening in a dress, nylons and heels but not my mother. My mother wore pants or in the summer shorts but we lived in California so maybe that was not the norm everywhere.

The good thing is we didn't know all these things at the time and could enjoy "idols" and good wholesome shows. Stars were protected from any scandals, etc. Now nothing is private with the internet, etc.

My Mom never wore pants/slacks until she was older and needed home care. I bought her some pants because she needed the warmth on her legs. Previously she always wore dresses or skirts & blouses. Always wore make-up (not overdone) and earrings.

Think people just took more pride in their looks. Respect issue. You wouldn't had seen folks at the gas pumps or walmart in their pj's.

So glad I'm not alone. I'm always on the watch during kitchen scenes in old shows for Pyrex and Corningware. I kind of do it with newer shows too, just love to see what's 'in the kitchen'!!
