This is another item I bought and couldn't get used to using as I thought they were bulky. I purchased the two set large and small awhile back. Well today I was watching the presentation because I saw that they now have colored handles and two more pieces and realized I was using them for more than I should have. The slotted one especially and saw some interesting uses for that one. I have used the smaller one a few times. So out they are coming this week after I saw them "fly out the door" and sold out. I did like the smallest one though. The rep is certainly a spirited lady and had to smile she wouldn't stop for David just kept on showing how to use them.

I think we probably use the smaller ones more often which is why I bought both sets. They should offer a set of 2 of the solid 8 1/2" with 2 of the 8 1/2" slim spurtles.

I have the original spurtle set. I agree I like the smaller one and mostly only use that one. Also I still find myself reaching for my regular spatula for certain things. No different than an old fashioned wooden spoon set really!

I use my spurtles all the time and LOVE them. The short one is just great for breaking up hamburger or sausage and other types of sauteeing. I use it every day. The longer ones are good for stiring up pasta and especially soups. Since there is so much surface area, they really move the soup around. I have given these to my children, and they don't know how they got along without them before!

I got these some time back when they first came out with a little tray. The funny thing is - I bought them JUST for that tray because I had a specific purpose for which to use the tray part. But, by the time I got them I forgot what that purpose was. Still haven't remembered that.

As for the tools, I haven't used them at all. I have a small collection of really nice olive wood utensils that I really love. The quality is incredible and they will last forever. My oldest olive wood utensil is decades old and still perfect, except for some seasoning. I take good care of them, of course.

Between my olive utensils, some that are rubber type stuff, and many that are silicone, I'm set. I can't see anything for which these would be as handy, or more handy than what I already have.

To be honest, I'm not really fond of cheap wood for kitchen use. I will pick up the olive wood utensils every time I am looking for a wooden utensil. I got this awesome set back when Chef's was still in business. They are just stunning. The big spoon is a piece of art.

But, maybe one day I'll remember why I ordered that set of spurtles for the little tray. I'm turning into an idiot. hehe
