You're welcome. I have the regular size FS. That smaller size is not worth the expense for fridge storage for me because.....

In my personal experience, aluminum foil does the same thing for a lot less $$$. I can keep cheese & lunchmeat for up to 3 weeks if it last that long in the fridge. I use heavy duty aluminum foil.

That smaller FS version should work well for freezer storage if you do not freezer bulk shop.

I saw it this morning. Half the demo was a fail. Jan Mulder was having issues with the product making a seal. Doesn't seem like a good product if it can't easily seal the containers. I'll pass. Junk.

Ooooh @Mz iMac how do you wrap/store in that HD aluminum foil? Do you wrap it as normal and then maybe place it in a storage bag? I just had some turkey go bad so quickly and I hate to throw food out!

No need for "storage bags" if properly wrapped in aluminum foil.

I fold wrap as if the meat was going into the freezer instead of the fridge. Fold down the top as well as fold up the sides. This keeps out the air and meats will stay fresher easier.

@momtochloe I vacuum seal sandwich meat & cheese after we open it so it lasts longer. We don't eat sandwich meat much so If I don't in the trash it goes within the week. I never had any luck with their containers/canisters keeping air out.

Yeah, the thing is that it can only do one type of sealing which, BTW, all full-service Foodsavers can also do. For that amount of money you can actually get some models of full Foodsavers. You need to be able to use bag material, not just sealing those plastic containers.

One of my early Foodsavers even came with some of their containers. You know how much I use them? Virtually not at all. I put everything that I vac-seal in bags. Everything else can go in airtight containers (L&L of course).

If I'm vacuum sealing something squishy, I freeze or par-freeze it first. For meats I par-freeze first for obvious reasons. If it's a soup, stew, etc, I freeze it for a day in a L&L, then pop it out and into a bag to vac-seal. It will take up less room than the plastic vac containers, also.

I have those square containers and they usually lose their vacuum seal within a few minutes. I purchased them separately from the company. What a waste of money!

On the other hand, I use the jar attachment frequently. I have several different sizes of Mason jars and I use them for marinating meat, keeping mushrooms, berries, cheese, lunch meat, leftovers, etc fresh for several extra days.

I was contemplating buying this but Jan Mueller had a lot of problems during the demo. He kept saying it was "operator error, never product error". It definitely was not a good representation so I passed. I hope it works well for all that purchased.

I saw that gadget and thought it looked like somebody's good idea to make some money nevermind it won't likely hold a seal for long. I've purchased a couple different ways of sealing lids on plastic containers. Some lose their vacuum faster than others though I'm not sure about the lid sealing on mason jars that came with the older FoodSavers -- maybe someone can comment on that method.

Hi CB! A kitchen topic will draw me in more than any other. Cooks can always learn new tricks but I do not need another gadget!

My latest "find" is using demi glace to make sauces. The last gadget I bought was the electric mandolin. Have used it maybe 4 times. Oy.

Years ago, we had a regular Foodsaver. We also had trouble making a seal with the containers. Got rid of it for a refund. Wouldn't have another one.
