Quality of Tempations products? How many pieces do you own?

How durable are Temptations products. Do they chip or finish easily crack ?

Do you recommend?

I've never had one crack or break. But I also only use them with the bottom completely covered with food and I never soak them. I just wash them quickly.

Thanks.

They would be used as every day breakfast, lunch, dinner plates, and serving casseroles.

Are they dishwasher safe?

Just a suggestion, but you might want to ask about RECENT Temptations pieces, or at least find out if posters are talking about stuff they bought years ago vs. within the last year or so. Things change, sadly, usually not for the better.

I had bought several pieces years back, most of which have cracked and discolored. I am not tough on my cookware!! I still have a couple in good shape but will never purchase that line again. Cheaply made, you know where.......... Try Lenox,it is much better quality, I've had some of that bakeware for years and it is still like new!

I used to have so much of the stuff it was crazy. I never used it because after my husband died I stopped cooking. I ended up giving it to a neighbor who had a huge yard sale. I said, "I don't want to know what you are selling it for because I know what I paid for it". Unfortunately, I thought it had ended and went over to see if they'd made good money (1/2 was supposedly going to their church). Well, it was crazy how low they were selling the stuff for....I swore that I'd not buy anymore and it's been about 2 years and I have kept that.....

It's pretty and I like it but I just don't use it. It's hard not to buy it because I think it is so pretty and they keep coming out with new items.

I love to think about some of you ladies with families who use it and cook wonderful food in it. The people who came upon that yard sale really, really got some good deals that day!

I don't have their dinnerware, but I must have 6 - 8 (or more) different other sets. Never had any crack in the oven, etc. Haven't bought any in about 7 or 8 years now as the last items I bought were not of the same quality even as to color. I only cook for one now so I don't need any more, but I do use my TT all the time. I have one set of 2 loaf pans with hearts and they are very delicate. Seldom have used them. First two had arrived cracked and I shouldn't have reordered.

@Annabellethecat66Yard sales in my area are no place to try to get top dollar for anything. I just stopped at one this afternoon and came home with a pretty pot that I plan to use in a corner of my front walkway. They asked for $1and that's what I paid although if I'd wanted it for less, I suspect I could have made an even better deal because between our weather and Father's Day, there wasn't much business.

I bought my only Temptations casseroles more than 10 years ago - and they are fine, no chips or cracks. I haven't put them in the dishwasher, but I also don't put my Corningware casseroles in - and they're also fine at about 50 years old.

I'm not familiar with the dinner plates. I have the bakeware and bowls which I don't put in the dishwasher.

There have been many incidents related here on the boards about failures of this product. My favorite was the woman who had guests at the table as she was removing a crown roast from the oven at Christmas and the bottom fell out of the pan sending the roast to the floor and making a huge mess.

While I was in in rehab for my knees a friend came and went through all of the QVC and HSN boxes I'd never even opened. They found lots of 'stuff'. Among them some nice Temptations stuff. I gave her lots of dishes I'd bought for my daughter but she didn't like them (they were yellow).

I still have a lot left. I just saw several sets of the Temptations that are like for traveling and picnics with the suitcase like canvas that is really neat. I have several sets in different colors. Some of the things I have they don't make anymore. I'll eventually give them away but I do like to look at them. I think they are well made and very pretty.

Everything I buy for myself is always red. That's how I know it is/was for me. Now that I have two good knees who knows maybe I'll go on a picnic and use a set. Ha!

@Kachina624There have been a number of complaints, but I wonder what number that really represents as a percentage of the hundreds of thousands of that brand that's been sold. That's not something anyone ever talks about. There must be plenty of Temptations that satisfy because so many callers and posters tell us they own huge collections.

Any of us who have cooked for a long time know there are differences in quality and we do often get what we pay for, but for all the many, many women who love Pyrex, I was at a Passover seder a few years back when a large casserole exploded and sent glass flying through the kitchen as well as the livingroom and den; luckily we were all at the dining table at the tim it's never been as easy to clean as the few pieces of Temptations I have.

I'm really surprised to read all of the positive replies on this thread. I've read so many threads with many many negative comments about Temptations. I would be afraid of using it. It doesn't seem like it's very good quality.

I see Temptations pieces in one of my favorite consignment shops, price is very low. The store gets many of their items, not just Temptations, from Estate sales.

I don't know what people use to cook with but I like Corningware, my old pieces still look like new but they go for cheap, too.

After reading threads about the pieces cracking, I use mine only for party bowls. I have a bowl, a tray and some baking items, but I would be heartbroken if they cracked apart, so the baking items are now bowls too. Perfect to hold dips, veggies and chips.

I have several pieces including the 9 x 13 baker with lid it and none of mine have chipped, cracked or broken - unless of course when dropped on the ceramic tile. I do use mine every day as serving pieces and clean them in the top rack of the dishwasher. All of my pieces, except that 9 x 13 ,are older.It seems the newer ones are the ones that break.People here claim the 9 x 13 break all the time - I've not had that experience.I NEVER place any hot cassarole directly onto cold granite countertops- I use the racks provided with the cookware. I almost always wash on top rack of DW. I NEVER take anything direct from the freezer to the oven. I do put my TT into pre heated ovens.

I had an older 9x13 baker with a wire rack and to this day it is still plugging along with a new owner. What I did not like about that piece was that the supplied plastic lid never fit. From day one it did not fit and cracked when I tried to force it on. The quality of baker seemed fine but not so with the lid. The only other temptations item I have purchased was a 4 piece set of travel cups with the silicone sleeves and the silicone sip top. The first thing I noticed with them is that they felt different from the baker - more fragile if anything, yet still solid and thick. I was not sure what to think of it. One of them broke when I put coffee in it. The cup was room temperature so there was no reason for it tI break.
