Vintage Pyrex Bowl Recreations

Found at Target, in case anyone is interested. $29.99 for a set of three.

Sorry, their photos aren't copying here. My daughter got the turquoise/white set for me with figures on them. They also have a white/black set with birds, and a yellow, red, blue polka dot set.

They're shown on the Target online site if anyone is interested.

There were some reviews about these a couple of years ago on this board and people complained that they were lighter than the original. I think they are adorable, but I have the original from my grandmother.

I don't know how similar these are, but I got the ones that are sold as singles with the yellow and birdies (yellow snap-on lids) all around them. So cute!

I love Pyrex but with any of my newer stuff I'm more careful, since they switched from borosilicate glass to soda lime glass.

Thank you for the information. I'm guessing they would be lighter weight nowadays, I don't think they make Pyrex they way they used to.

I have the wheat set from my mother and one piece of the original turquoise set.

I always wanted the original gooseberry pink set, they are close to $300 for three now on Etsy, but my daughter did find the original three casseroles with lids gooseberry pink set for mother's day.

Hi @chickenbutt !

I'm with you. I was thinking I would just use them as serving bowls, I wouldn't put them in the oven.

I think QVC has the bird set and the yellow. Target has a few online.

My Mom had a soild red pyrex bowl, she is gone close to 3 years, I still smile when I visit my dad and see the bowl on the shelf.

It is a throwback to my childhood and holds very sweet memories.

I'm sorry you lost your mom, @I am still oxox I understand, I still miss my mother after quite a few years.

I also treasure things my mother used, especially for cooking

Hey Noel! I hope you're doing well these days. I think of you often with well-wishes, positive thoughts, and good vibes (FWIW).

I got mine directly from the Pyrex site. BTW, they pack their orders VERY well! I always worry when I order something very breakable from any given company/site. But those babies were packed to the hilt!

Well, those are kind of cute! oy - why did I go there? *sigh*

Furthermore, black is my favorite color. The singles I got are just clear glass with yellow detail and singing birdies, matching seals.

I sent the bowls back because the design is SN add on that looks to me like it could separate and peel from the dishwasher.There is a ridge on the end of the print where the design is attached by some form of glue I think.

I have had part of my mother's set, plus fill-ins, for years. They are fantastic in the oven. The only problem is the dishwasher, it will ruin the paint. I have purchased the yellow and green again from estate sales or auctions and hand wash those. Those two bowls get more use than anything around here for mixing up cookies, potato salad and meatloaf, even some baking.

I bought a set of Pyrex measuring cups at Costco a few months ago - they called it an Anniversary Edition. I couldn't believe it when the markings began to wear off in the diswasher! What good are measuring cups with no markings?

I have some of the old (antique) Pyrex liquid measure cups (1c, 2c, & 4c). They are the ones with the red writing, full 'D' handles - original. I got them in brand new condition from ebay years ago.

Even though they are the older types, I don't put any of them in the dishwasher because I've always been concerned that it would end up removing the paint. I've had they for quite a few years and don't even know how long ago they were made (decades!), and they are still like new.

i've used them in the microwave to heat water quickly.
