I make them the same day I will serve them. IMO, they are best served freshly prepared. Any leftovers I toss the next day.

I boil the eggs the night before, cool them down, put them in the fridge in a bowl and chill them overnight. I make them up early in the morning and then chill them again until ready to be eaten. I like them fresh - to me, they taste best.

I love horseradish in almost everything! Yes!

I don't use prepared mustard, I use the mustard powder to keep the yolk mixture from being too wet. I like the yolk of my deviled egg to be on the firm side.

@violann

I agree with a lot of posters here, after 24 hours the yolk mixture just doesn't look fresh, no matter how tightly you store them.

The better term is "dry mustard" and you don't need much. It tastes the same to me. I don't make it very spicy so no need for different recipes.

If you go to the Betty Crocker recipe web site, you can search by Classic Deviled Eggs.

@BeccaLou wrote:

@softwareIs the taste the same with the mustard powder?Plus do you make two seperate trays for those who can't eat spicy food??
