I use to race home from church to watch ITKWD. It's got so I don't care. There are shows just for cleaning products and shows for Gormet Holiday. David had a great following and I think if they keep this up, he's going to lose people. Plus now Mary is on Sat. noon and basicly she show the same as David. I enjoy David's Happy Dance , trivia and his antics as of now if this continues he has lost my vote.

I haven't watched this show regularly, but tried today. It was 15 food items (at least) and a darn vacuum presentation. Was this a Food Fest in disguise? Where are the kitchen items? I won't even bother again if the focus is prepared food. Maybe I just haven't kept up with the changing format. Please show more tools, food vessels, and small appliances.

I seem to have a vague recollection of David, or somebody else, saying this would be a "foodies" show today. Actually, QVC seems to be having more and more food shows. I know folks on the forums complain about the price of the food items, but they must be popular. Not with me, however. I rarely, if ever, watch their food shows.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing. I look at "preview the show" to primarily see what cookbooks will be shown (which I buy elsewhere cheaper if I am interested in the book). The last several weeks, both the Sunday and the Wed. shows seem to be heavily loaded with food items, not just this particular show today. And overpriced food items, I might add. The food of the month, the chicken fried chicken, with tax, comes to $19.60 (based on my local sales tax rate) PER POUND!!! That chicken better cook itself and clean up after itself at that price! Locally, I can get really nice boneless skinless no antibiotics chicken breasts at The Fresh Market on sale on Tuesdays for $2.99 per pound.

My first thought was, "Why in the world would anyone order their dinner from QVC?", but then I started thinking about it. I suspect there is a large number of people who are unable to cook for themselves and can really benefit from these offerings. I don't mean those who say "I can't cook" because they've no desire to learn, I'm referring to people who have health or mobility issues that prevent them from cooking and baking. I'm not in the market for prepared foods, but I'm glad that there are options for those who are not as self-reliant.

I think you're so right, House Cat! For me, it's just that SOME of the products are really quite lovely and it's worth it for the convenience of it.

I've cooked for my whole life (since I was 6yrs old) and can cook anything I set out to. But I mostly cook for just me and there are things I'm not going to do all the prep for, for one serving. To get some of the frozen things is really nice. I can vacuum seal, in portions, and freeze them. Then I have meals for a long time, intermittently with other items that I cook for myself.

I actually get the 20pc chicken fried chicken for $89. Each piece is about $4.45. They are quite large and very nice and tasty. That is a whole meal for me, so it's worth it. I vac-seal them and they are dispersed with othe,r either prepared or made by me, dishes and I've not spent that much money at all over the period of time and number of meals.

I'm not going to set up a breading station, cut a bunch of raw chicken, do all that and make a big mess - just to make MY dinner. But to have that without the fuss and muss is nice.

That might not be for somebody else. That's fine. I don't judge that, just like I don't expect to be judged.

Anyway, moral of the story is that there are many reasons for where different people will spend their money and that's fine as long as they're spending their own money, right?
