Has this happened to anyone else? Bought the K55 on the QVC deal and finally inserted the charcoal filter. Three days later I've got a consistent swollen throat after drinking the coffee or the My K Cup ground. Removed the filter, rinsed the device thoroughly with vinegar and water and now all is okay. Is this only me or does anyone else have a similar experience? Where are those filters made - China?

...how do you know it's not the coffee, or tea,and what's in it as a flavoring etc? I believe Keurig has a Fair Trade agreement with whoever manufactures their products so they are concerned about the integrity.

Did you call Keurigs Customer Service?

There are many variables-including where you live, source of water etc.....I'm playing Devil's Advocate, but I would start off with brewing your beverage in the conventional way first and see what, if any reaction you have. If you still have a reaction, Keurig may not be to blame..... just an idea....

Poodlepet2

I read that you don't need this filter, if you filter your water already. I don't use mine. My coffee is fine.

I've had a Keurig for many years and use bottled water so we don't need the filters (bottled water stops most of the hard water build up), but I remember when I used to use the filters that it was recommended rinsing the filters prior to inserting them, and rinsing them with White Vineger sounds even better.

But I've never had my coffee maker cause this problem with me.... hope you're feeling better and that it never happens to you again....

I have a model with water reservoir and a filter and don't use the filter. It gave the coffee a strange taste even after going through the whole vinegar routine.

May not be good for the machine but I don't really care, once it dies I'm not replacing it. I'm going back to my 4 cup Cuisinart.

Thanks for your observations. Some poster seems somewhat ticked off that I "evaporated" after posting and the query was "suspicious". Not so, no trolling, but I rarely come to these forums. It's because I've not read of anyting like this before I thought I'd canvas the Q's large user base for their personal experiences. My filters were soaked for 1/2 hour before use; the coffee blend used was good old Vermont Country that I've used for many years. The water was good 'ole NJ tap like I'd been using in the B140 for five years with no issues. Thanks anyway.

Did you rinse the filters after letting them soak? Otherwise, the soaking water was still in it when you used it.

Also, don't post and leave. If you post a question, then you want an answer, and manners dictate that you reply. Otherwise, people get the impression you weren't grateful and/or were just stirring the pot.

Also I'll write "what ever" I want in "whatever" way I want it. Tons wrote was what I wanted to say, not a cliche!

Just so you don't miss it dear!
