Any Thoughts On The All Clad?

Anyone do their research on the All Clad set offered? Is this set made only for the Q or is this carried everywhere?

Looks like this is USA made except for the steamer insert.

I'm tempted to replace my Farberware. While my stockpots look nearly new, my fry pans have taken a beating over the years.

I am an All Clad collector and Chef. I have been slowly collecting AC pieces for many years and a lot at SALE prices for my home. Do Not Put these in the dishwasher please.

6 Easy Pay is an interesting option to aquire these wonderful pots and pans.

With care and attention this collection will probably outlive YOU!

It is the total ultimate in cookware and made in the USA. (except for the insert) .

That's how I began with Farberware, a basic set and then added open stock pieces. Cost me a fortune back then!

I always hand wash my Farberware.

I have multiple pieces of All Clad and they cook and clean beautifully. Worth every penny. Have some of moms from when she passed as well. Majority of them came from WS or TjMaxx-Marshalls.

Look closely at the set, will you use those specific pans? I picked mine up open stock, selected them one by one. My roaster is so overused and still looks like new, over 10 years old.

I think it is a good value if you will use every pan in the set. I personally wouldn't. I use more 1-2 qt stock pots and fry pans vs. dutch oven type pans. You have a day or two to shop around and for the $$ you would be smart to. They are an investment but the quality is outstanding.

@Jtdmum when I get to WS I've been looking at the 8" fry pan. All of my current fry pans are 10" and many times I just want to scramble a couple of eggs for breakfast or a quick dinner.

I do have an open roaster with insert rack and it's truly a beautiful piece and cleans so easily.

I'm off to see which pieces are the most used in my kitchen!

I know they make a 3 ply and a 5 ply. Look at the stores that carry it-like WS and I think Macy's. Sur La Table-for prices?

I don't own the All-Clad but I do have the 5-ply Revere ware that was produced in the last years of
USA made Revere ware. It has lasted and lasted and will outlast me. If the all-clad is at all near like my Revere ware, it should last and wear well. A good investment is a good investement.

All-Clad is the Rolls Royce of cookware. I own pieces and the tri-clad construction makes clean up easy. Even distribution of heat. Of course the stainless steel is top notch and gorgeous.

I have been through so many brands of cookware! My pieces would last a few months/years then I had to throw them away! I finally wised up and decided to spend the bucks on 2 complete sets of All Clad! Wow! This cookware is the best! I've had them for years now and know I'll never have to ever replace any! I buy my All Clad at Bed, Bath & Beyond. 20% off coupon is good too!

SNowpuppy, whatever you do don't get rid of your Farberware unless a piece is broke or damaged. I am still a fan of my 1970 USA Farberware and once in awhile I do buy a new pan from QVC or BBB but I always go back to my Farberware fry pans that I love to cook with and hand wash when done.

I have collected AllClad for years. Amazon prices are great on a starter set. You want to buy a set with an 8 quart stock pot. WS has the most products, and good sales.

I just googled AC and found reviews in Consumer Reports site - the COSTCO tri ply set is rated higher and at a much lower price.

Sur la Table has a similar 10pc set of tri ply but it's $200 more. No Costco near me. I'll check Amazon for their offerings. Macy's has a set at the same pricepoint.

Stockpots, currently I have a 6qt and 8qt. The 6 qt gets more use for soups & stews. The 4qt's get the most weekly use.

My Farberware is USA made. Bought it in the '90's before they shipped production overseas.

Gotten so much use from this investment, was worth every penny.

I have a d5 Essential pan. It is a nice deep pan with a helper handle. I brought a 4Qt size. It is heavy. You will enjoy whatever you decide to buy.

WS should have a video on their site "talking" about this line.

Ooh, I bet the 'brushed' version is stunning.

As everybody has already said - AllClad is the best. You cannot beat it.

I have not seen the upcoming TSV, so I cannot comment on that. If it is indeed made in the US, that's a good sign. It's an extremely reputable company so I'd like to think that they aren't lowering the standards to crank out tens of thousands of them for this sale.

Somebody mentioned the price at $499. If this is a whole set of pots/pans, that sounds positively reasonable.

Like others here, I don't purchase sets. I like to just get pieces of whatever (cookware, knives, etc) that are the pieces I am most likely to use. I also think that you get even better quality manufacturing with most items that are purchased individually.

If your Farberware still performs and looks good, I would continue to use it. We forget that for many years, FW was the top of the line. When my mom passed I donated her set to a women's shelter. She used those pots and pans heavily for many years, yet they still looked new. Mind you, Mom would immediately put her pans to soak while we were eating, so washing them was never a chore.

Now, to get your "toes wet" with All Clad you could always try the smaller frying pan, but you may want to consider a sm and med frying pan, perhaps as a set. You could hold off until bridal shower time for the June brides, when you should see a sale or two. I wholeheartedly agree with the earlier poster to make sure every unit of the TSV will be used in your kitchen before making the purchase. Open stock, although the outlay seems prohibitive, turns out to be an excellent buy when you use all the pieces frequently. The TSV may find some pieces rarely used. For example, the idea of holding a hot pan of food by 2 small metal handles is not in my wheelhouse.

Forgot to mention this about your worn out pieces of Farberware. I assume you are talking about the handles. You could probably find replacements on the internet, most likely on eBay. Your older pans that perform beautifully and look like new would be useable, then!

I can't tell that much difference between the tri-ply and the D5 except the D5 seems heavier. I am not a huge fan of the brushed finished because I think it is harder to keep looking nice.
