🍴 Prepping Lunches with Food Saver Question 🔪

I'm heading back to work after a long winter break. I'm looking forward to returning tomorrow, except for one thing...

I HATE TO MAKE LUNCHES!

Since I now have a Foodsaver, I'm wondering if I can prep five chicken wraps, seal them, and just pop one in my lunch bag each day.

I'm using sliced grilled chicken and a light coleslaw mix, because I thought it would hold up better than lettuce.

Has anyone done this type of prep-ahead lunches with Foodsaver?

I have a food saver....if you do you use it for lunch you will have to watch carefully so that you don't smush your sandwich.

I did it tonight. I made six chicken wraps on whole wheat tortillas and they're set to go for the week. My unit has a gentle setting, as well as a pulse setting, so I was careful not to crush them. If my lunch is still fresh when Friday rolls around, I will be THRILLED!

Honestly, I don't see the point of using this for lunches. My husband takes lunch to work everyday but he just uses tupperware for his lunch items. But then I also wouldnt' want to eat a wrap that was made 4-5 days ago. To each their own.

Are you freezing the others or do they have lettuce in them?

No, I'm not freezing them. The cole slaw has very little dressing on it and the chicken is griled and sliced. I think they'll be fine. The one I had today was very good.

I'd just put them in zip lock sandwich bags. I also don't see the point of the Foodsaver for sandwiches. That heavy-duty freezer plastic for the Foodsaver is too expensive to use for sandwich bags. It's overkill.

You're probably right, but I got a good deal on the bags and I'm having so much fun!

The only problem is that zip-lock bags don't keep anything fresh. The air is able to circulate in and out of the bag constantly.
