A week or so ago I was preparing a multi-dish meal and while I don't recall what I had in the pan I do recall having about 1/2-3/4 cup of broth and likely a vegetable waiting to heat.

I thought I had turned on the burner beneath the pot with the protein so it could start cooking then left the kitchen. Due to the smell of something burning I returned to the kitchen a few minutes later and discovered I had accidently turned on the smaller pan and it had boiled completely dry. The bottom was completely black and it looked fused to the pan.

After trying several things including prolonged soaking I was ready to toss the pan because nothing I tried made a dent in the burned on broth.

Feeling that the pan was a loss anyway I decided to try the paste cleaner and scrubby I use on my ceramic stove top. It took effort but the burned on broth started coming off. There was still some left so the next day I used Bar Keeper's Friend on the pan and with more effort all of the burned on stuff was gone.

Tonight is the first time I've used that pan since the incident and it worked like new.

I usually buy a small frying pan or sauce pan to test out new nonstick cooking surfaces, so maybe this will be my next experiment.

Haven't en them in any stores yet, I don't think.

Last summer I got a set of ceramic fry pans for camp and liked them so much that when we came home I bought a new complete set of ceramic pots & pans for home. They are the most non stick of any pans I've ever owned.

Marp, I accidentally left my Curtis Stone on a burner all night on a setting a little above simmer: the pan discolored, but it still works beautifully! Have you tried it since you saved it? I love Curtis Stone: so far his pans have survived heavy use and high temperatures and perform as well as when brand new.

Somebody used my Instant Pot for something-it looks like rice-and they let it dry. I always use baking soda, coarse salt and vinegar, and it always works....BUT I still have residue. I have arthritis in my hands now,and I was "dying" after. I thought about using Ceramibrite, but decided against it: when I get home, I will try it!

Poodlepet2
