It may not have all the features but I recently bought a Willias-Sonoma 7 qt. with the liner you can browning liner for half price. It is the only crock pot I've had in many years that cooks great and doesn't boil everything to death. But it was expensive even half price.

THey have a newer model with a copper colored liner but it is very shallow. I didn't like that one, but haven't tried it.

I bought a non programable crockpot two years ago. It has a switch on the front so I can put things in it, use a lamp timer, and have it come on later in the day.

I have had one with a locking lid. Hated all that mess. The outer part does get really warm, then you have to hold it to unlock the lid. It's going to goodwill.

Things definately have a "best" time and that's usually 6 hours.

Crockpots don't seem to be so popular these days as the newer multi-cookers which function as crockpots but also sear, steam, bake. Every shopping channel has one plus Cuisinart and other companies make them. I prefer my pressure cooker which also does these things in addition to cooking fast. I use its slow cook function as much as I pressure cook.

If she still wants to slow cook she can, but I bet she soon falls in love with pressure cooking.

@Kachina624 makes a good point about the versatility of an electric pressure cooker or multi-cooker. If kitchen real estate is sparse these are especially nice. She can choose between slow cooking or fast cooking and still have a homemade meal.

I don't know why a stirrer would be purposeful for slow cooking as I have always understood it is best to not stir ,at least not often. What I have always appreciated about slow cooking is basically --dump it in /slow cook and eat a tasty meal ! I really liked it when I worked outside the home.

I hope Santa finds just the right one for your daughter.

Hi giddy up,

Regarding your Cuisinart 3 in 1 multi cooker, I have a few questions and hope you can answer them before I buy this as a holiday gift and give to a person who has a pet bird.

Question #1 is various...

Is your Cuisinart's inner cooking well, where the food is placed inside made of teflon, if not then what do your Manufacturer's information/guide/warranty state the cook well is made of, and does your CUisinar warranty also cover defects regarding peeling and flaking of teflon, if the inner cooking well is indeed made of teflon?

Question #2) In the 3 years of home use have you experienced any flaking or peeling within that inner cook well?

Questions #3) If this Cuisinart inner cook well is indeed teflon coated, then in case you are not aware.... it is a scientific and medical public fact that teflon is fatal to pet birds, as it turns toxic when items manufactured with teflon are used in the kitchen, and as a result the pet birds die.

If you can please address and answer each question, as I cannot reach the Manufacturer to ask them, and QVC offers this item for purchase now, and I need answers to my above questions before purchase.

I hope you can reply, and Happy Holidays to you, and yours.

I use my pressure cooker as much as my Ninja 4 in 1. If I am cooking any meat, hands down it's the pressure cooker. It always tastes better in the pressure cooker.
