anyone try the christmas cheese cake. is it good. ordered it for the first time. been to resturant in brooklyn but never had cheesecake. but I live in midwest so I have no junior cheesecake.

Yes, the Christmas cheesecake from Juniors is very good! My MIL served it every Christmas; cutting the slices very thin since it is so rich. I have bought the mini cheesecakes as special treats; my husband and I cut them in half and share this sweet dessert.

I bought this one quite a few years ago and it was a hit.

I like their cheesecakes, in general, because I like the list of ingredients and that they blend them so completely that they are silky smooth.

I used to not like cheesecake because I saw recipes that had (who knows why, but it was gross) sour cream in the recipe. For years I just thought that was what cheesecake was. I was happy to learn that I was wrong.

Anyway, Junior's has pretty good products. If you are near there you might be able to get one for a little less dough, though.

I've always liked their cheesecakes. Others may disagree. I've ordered the large cakes in the past when we had more family for the holidays. They were always good...the regular pumpkin one was to die for! Now, with it just being me and my hubby, I order the little fellas cakes and take out one for us to split. They are delicious and just a nice size for us. Plus, you get a few different flavors in your order.

Any that I've tasted, the large Christmas or the minis, have been tasty, and kept well frozen.

There are two types of cheesecake - "New York Style" and regular.

NY style cheesecake is taller and very dense/heavy (weight-wise). Thickly creamy on the tongue.

From Stack Exchange:

"New York-style cheesecake, made famous by Lindy's and Junior's Deli, relies upon heavy cream, cream cheese, eggs and egg yolks to add a richness and a smooth consistency. Also called Jewish-style, it is baked in a special 5- to 6-inch tall springform pan in many restaurants. Some recipes use cottage cheese and lemon for distinct texture and flavor or add chocolate or strawberry to the basic recipe.

New York style cheesecakes are cream cheese mixtures baked without a water bath and are unique because the baking starts at a high temperature (that's quickly dropped down) producing a rich interior and light brown exterior. A NY cheesecake is high, dense, and firm."

From my own experience one of my Christmas dinner guests sent to me for dessert -- all I can say is my spouse rarely eats any sweets or desserts....he had a little sliver then asked please make sure you put a piece aside for me later.

It was a hit! Creamy and full of filling - I think we were arguing over who was going to lick the plate!!! LOL

I'm ordering again for this year for my son's house...

Does anyone know how Juniors Cheesecake compares to Cheesecake Factory? We love Chesecake Factory...buy to order on line it is pretty pricy.

There seems to be a mystique about Cheesecake but if you use a good recipe and follow directions it's as simple as pie. I have a Mr Foods recipe I make often. Put all ingredients in food processor and its ready for the oven in 5 minutes. I bake it in an oversized pie plate. I flavor and garnish depending on the occasion. No reason to have to order one for $50-$60 or more.

I happen to see presentation today. The slice on tv is 1/4 lb. which he stated is way to much for 1 person.

he suggests 1/2 slice and will feed 16. I cut nice size slice and got 16 slices. It's very creamy, rich & lots of filling! Yum

Yikes! I think you're right. I'm just now seeing the minis that they have on today and, as I did purchase them a couple of times over the years, I'm quite certain I didn't pay anywhere near $70 for them!

Both Junior's and Cheesecake Factory have delicious cheesecakes. However, they are not cheap! I have seen Cheesecake Factory cakes in Sam's Club for less than anywhere else...under $20.00 which is a good price for a large cake.

For cheesecakes; I head to my local Barnes & Noble store. They offer Cheesecake Factory Cheesecakes for $40; members get it for $28 with a coupon. Their Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake is incredible. 14 slices per whole Cheesecake & their Red Velvet is to die for!

Jr.s Cheesecake too a huge loan meant for small buisinesses. They will survive while a small business this money was meant for will not. Do you agree with them?

I assume that they run their restaurant business seperately from their retail mail order business. Certainly their restaurant business has taken quite a hit like all other restaurants but Juniors certainly isnt in jeopardy of going bankrupt and they can maintain operations selling direct to consumers and many restaurants cannot. I would have liked to see them leave the money for those who really need it. Ive always felt their cheesecakes are overpriced. I perfer to shop my local bakery anyway. Fresher and a fraction of the price of Juniors.
