I saw part of the presentation of today's TSV. David said if you use your Q card you will receive a $20 gift card back. Why don't they just reduce the TSV price by $20 instead?

Either way it's too expensive for me but I'm sure a lower price might convince some people to buy it.

Why? For the same reason companies give rebates. Most people never follow through with collecting them. Many won't follow through with using the gift card either.

It's their way of getting people to either sign up for a Q card or to use their Q card. More money for them.

Just like department stores giving a percentage off your order if you sign up for their credit card.

I don't disagree with you, just offering a suggestion of why they do it.

I got $20 earlier this year on an item I purchased, can't even remember which one. I used it toward my Dennis Basso TSV, the raincoat--which I love!

Fortunately, the three pieces I currently own are sufficient. I was afraid this TSV would be too tempting to pass up, but it's not.

I love enameled cast iron such as LeCreuset, and Staub (which is what I have; I love my 5 quart Dutch oven).

But the TSV seems too small and too shallow to be useful, at least in my kitchen.
