I can't speak to this exact item, but I've seen this type of thing and the probllem is that the air actually doesn't STAY out. It slowly releases and allows air in.

I'd put my money in a vacuum sealer, if I wanted to vacuum seal foods. I would not want to be without one. Between that and the Lock & Lock for foods that I don't vac seal, it's the best of the best for food storage.

If you saw the inside of my refrigerators and freezers you would see almost nothing but vacuum sealed foods and foods like dry goods and short-storage type items in Lock & Lock. If something is properly vacuum sealed, it will store for years.

Sometimes I even vac seal dry goods like rices and nuts - for example, when I purchase large quantities. I measure them out and vac seal, into the freezer, and I don't have to worry about how long they will be in there.

From Joyus.com, a food system whert air is removed!

A plunger draws the air out of the container keeping lettuce fresh three weeks and guc fresh and beautiful color for one week! Bacteria in air is what ruins food. That's why food sealing systems are so popular!

This system is how opened bottles of wine are kept fresh for decades!

BPA free.

Does anyone have this?

I bought this when it was on sale on the "Vine" channel-even though I have a Food Saver-which I am not too lazy to bring out from my cabinet. I have the bags and some containers.....it's so easy! BUT, other members of my family seem to be too tired or whatever, and use zip lock bags with wild abandon.

I saw the presentation and I knew it was not going to be that easy......and it isn't! If you have any kind of arthritis in your hands or weakness, forget it.....If you want a sprint type cardio workout, go for it!

ECBG, did you buy and try it? If nothing else, I find squares and rectangles are easier to use for storage.....

Poodlepet2

My strapping healthy 27 year old son used it-and he is strong. It took him at least 10 or more minutes to pump the air out.

Glad was selling an inexpensive vacuum system in grocery stores: their system had/ has a battery operated hand held pump. They sell bags, but I have never seen containers for it.

The containers are a nice size, but all of that air is difficult to aspirate.....and that's an understatement! I use the ones I bought for general short term storage: my arthritic hands can't manage that pump! I will say this about it though-it works every bit as well as the Food Saver when it comes to rapid marinating: be sure to try it.

Poodlepet2
