My roommate is hard to shop for, I came across a note I made saying she wanted a small crock pot. I have no idea what a "small" crock pot is vs. a regular crock pot. I don't know what size to get her, don't know what brand to get, or where to find it. Help please! If it's not obvious I have no clue when it comes to cooking. Thank you ladies.

Four quarts is usually considered small (compared to 6 or 8 or 12), but if she wants a lunch size, then 4-quarts is really too big and if she considers 12 to be large, then 6 might be small to her.

Walmart had smaller sizes--I think they even had a 1 quart size. I have used it to keep mashed potatoes warm for family dinners.

Hope that helps.

@judEve I have a small one quart which I use for dips and also I love to caramelize onions in it but I always have an oval 1 1/2 quart that I make 1-2 person meals in. I guess the size of the crock pot would depend on how much food she is looking to make at one time. As it's just me, these work great but if you are looking to cook for more than two or would like leftovers probably a 3 or 4 quart would be a good idea.

Another thought is how much storage space does she have.

Good luck!

eta: the reason why I chose an oval for the 1 1/2 quart is that it fits bone in pieces of chicken really well.
