Lock 'n Lock Question

Received my Lock 'n Lock TSV from a few weeks ago. I'm pressed with the quality of the containers.

This is my first L&L purchase.

The only worry I see is the tabs. They look like where they bend that they could easily break off. For those of you who have used this product for awhile, are they strong on the tabs?

Just about everything in my cuabinets and refrigerator is stored in a Lock 'n Lock container. In the few years I have used them, the tabs seem to be quite durable. Yes, I have had a couple break, but in each case the container was a couple of years old, and it was opened daily. Actually, your post gives me the idea that there should be a set of replacement lids available in case a lid tab is broken. I know they may feel offering separate lids suggests there is a flaw with them, but the tabs don't seem to have the same lifespan as the containers.

They are sturdy. I'm impressed with the durability.

I'll keep an eye on those tabs. Good idea about replacement lids.

I have been using these containers for many years. I use them daily and have newer ones and older ones. I have never had a tab break. They are the only storage containers I use.

I have older & new L & L, the tabs on new look thinner. I have never had any break, but have had a part of the flip lid break on 1 that I had in the freezer. I am not sure it is all "freezer safe", meaning all plastic becomes somewhat brittle in the freezer.

I got the most recent TSV. It arrived with 2 of the tabs broken on the second largest, square bowl. I called QVC and they sent me out a replacement lid. All is well. The bowls were very well packaged, individually wrapped with foama nd bubble wrap, but even with that, someone in quality control wrapped a bowl with two tabs missing. Go figure!

I have a mix of Lock n Lock and other styles. The Lock n Lock company has a warranty and sticks by it so far.

I just got my TSV the other day and thought the very same thing...that the tabs didn't look very durable. I've have Tupperware from 35 years ago. All I need from L&L is maybe 10 considering I'm 69.

I also agree that the packaging was stellar. Each one was packaged in its own plastic and so far all seem okay. Glad they sent a new lid out. I think I'll get a lot of use out of these for many things. I will definitely be saving on Glad wrap for all my leftovers.

Been using lock a dock for years, never had a tab break off. I put them in the fridge, freezer, microwave. They've been through it all. If anything, the bowl discolors.

Over the years, I have had a few tabs break off..mostly on the round ones..Oddly, i stil kept them, some I use as 'Tripods" - usually just as mixing bowls..

Twice I have had a tab break on a lid.

In each case, I returned to L&L for a warranty replacement.

L & L has Limited LIfetime Warranty on their products!

I paid a couple bucks to mail back.

You MUST have your QVC receipt, NO exceptions.

They promptly replaced.

**Side Note: Do NOT trust QVC history to store that invoice for you! The further you go back, the more inconsistent it is.

SAVE your L&L receipt in a file!

L&L is freezer-safe, but you do have to be extra careful when opening the tabs immediately after removing it from the freezer. Also, try not drop a frozen L&L.

I have never had a tab break and I've been using these from pretty much the beginning. My only problem has been one set of square ones where the tabs were just too hard to close. I finally dumped them and still use the rest.

I have two with broken tabs and in both cases I dropped them as I was taking them out of the freezer. I didn't send mine back, as they still work fine with a tab missing.

My word of caution is to thoroughly cool the food before closing the tabs. I was transporting a large round container to my mom's apartment for dinner - I guess the steam broke the seal and it leaked all over my trunk.

Lesson learned.
