Farberware Electric Percolater

I bought a 4 cup Farberware Percolator from Walmart on-line on January 6, 2016. I just noticed the bottom and front bottom black plastic area cracked. I called the 800# of Farberware but could hardly hear the rep (she sounded like she had marbles in her mouth) - and she's asking lots of questions, which I can't deal with. I've had Farberware coffee makers for over 25 yrs and this is the first time, I've had a problem. They sure don't make it like they used to.

Can u recommend another brand of electric percolator? I prefer 4 cup and I don't like to use paper filters. Thx

I have the exact same percolator you are talking about. Purchased it from Walmart a couple of months ago and it seems to be working well. A couple of years ago after going thru a couple of Keurigs and realizing that perked coffee tastes so much better than Keurig coffee, I purchase a 12 cup Presto coffee percolator. That's the one we use in the morning because both my husband and I drink coffee with breakfast. I love the Presto. It gets excellent reviews and it's been going strong for probably 3 years. It also makes an excellent cup of coffee. I recently purchased the 4 cup Farberware because I like another cup of coffee in the afternoons and I didn't want to make just one cup in a 12-cup percolator. I think the problem with the Farberware, however, is they are no longer made in the USA. The company moved all their manufacturing to China and their quality has suffered (just like everything else). As a matter of fact, there seems to be very strong demand for vintage, USA-made coffee percolators as well as other small kitchen appliances. My mother in law gave away the coffee percolator she had gotten as a bride over 50 years ago and it was still working just fine. I wish I had gotten it from her before she gave it away, but she thought I'd never be interested in such an old kitchen appliance.

I love my Farberware percolator, but it's about 45 years old and still working like a champ. They certainly don't make anything like they used to. I actually bought a spare on Etsy so if this one conks out I still have one that's made in the USA. I love percolated coffee. 🍵😊

Farberware coffee makers are now in the same league as Clarks and Ryka shoes. Their lifespan is now in months - rather than years.

I just googled many reviews on-line for a good electric percolator and Presto and Hamilton Beach, 12 cup percolators, seem to be recommended - even though Presto had some serious negative reviews.

The coffee is only for me - so I prefer 4 cup or 8 cup.

Remember the "olden" days when u could just purchase any item and it was fine --- lasted many years, was exactly like u imagined. Now - it's pot-luck if it even works for a few months.

I've had really good luck with my Presto percolator. When I was in the market for one, the reviews were best for the Presto. I believe I bought it from Kohls and used and coupon for it, so I probably spent only around $40 for it. The way I look at it, it was way cheaper than a Keurig. I think I"ve had it for around 3 years, so I''m pretty happy that it lasted this long. The last Keurig I bought only lasted for around a year and I paid around $150 for it. I would definitely buy the Presto again.

I still have my Faberware electric percolator, I think it might be a 6 cup. My son took it to work and now everyone at his work uses it. It is 38 years old.

That is the only percolator I ever bought so I can't recommend any other brand.

Hi !

I've posted about Farberware percolators before. Love them!

What I suggest, is to look for an old (vintage) Farberware Superfast percolator. (The newer ones are lousy.)

Ebay is a great place to find one, or even your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. I outfitted my family on the little 4 cup ones, and paid about $1 for each of them at various thrift stores.

Look for made in NYC on the bottom, not made in Yonkers or Brooklyn.

The NYC ones are the originals.....tho if Yonkers or Brooklyn are all you can find, snap it up.

I was also made in NYC.

I went to Bed/Bath today and all they had was one Bilaletti 4 cup percolator - so I bought it. I checked their website when I got home and it gets BAD reviews. I'll be returning tomorrow. Can u imagine - Bed/Bath didn't have any electric percolators? What's going on? I guess they'll have to order one for me - either Hamlton Beach or Presto - 4 or 6 cup.

Today I returned the Bialetti Percolator (I didn't open the box) - and Bed/Bath ordered an 8 cup Hamilton Beach elec. percolator for me - will be delivered to my home and they didn't charge for delivery. I LOVE Bed/Bath!!!!
