I have cake sprinkles/sanding sugars that will be 2 years old soon.

I think they are still good but wonder what is the "rule of thumb"?

I know when I worked in a bakery they had huge quantities that they kept in large sealed containers & I don't recall ever tossing them or expiration. Of course, they used them daily mine are "seasonal".

I keep them in original jars in large lock & lock container.

Thank you!

If that type of sugar product is stored properly, it has an indefinite shelf life. Taste it and see if you think it tastes ok.

Domino says that since sugar “does not support microbial growth,” it will last forever when properly stored.

The biggest problem with any granulated food item is moisture/humidity in my world. If you have a way to keep salt/sugar dry, I consider them both safe and tasty, as long as they pass the taste test too.

GOOD QUESTION!!!!!
