I LOVE my DH to grill. I just love grilled things, and I cook a lot in the winter. Grilled seems fresher and lighter in the heat and a different flavor because back in the "dark ages" when I was first married, we did grill but not a lot. Also, a lot of those recipies had a gravy to tenderise the meat.

When DH gills, he usually does so for two days. When I cook indoor, I also do for several days. An example would be Pepper Steak. Are you going to freeze the other half of the sirloin?

So, we usually have leftovers for two days. Sometimes we cook a one serving item, but it isn't an everything day thing.

I try to cook just the amount we will eat for one dinner. Mainly, because I am not a big leftover fan - except maybe pasta dishes, like baked ravioli or baked ziti. If we do have leftovers he will eat them and I will just find something else in there to eat. I do like leftover pizza though for breakfast, that will never go to waste.😊

I'd say at least a couple times a week. When I cook I like to make enough food to put aside for my work lunch the next day. It's always nice to have a good lunch to look forward too!

When hubby BBQs we usually have enough chicken or ribs left for a few meals. But sometimes I have to skip a day before eating them.

When DH grills I have him grill enough for a lunch or two and maybe a leftover supper.

Simetimes I cook enough for left overs another night...can't cook a small pot of beans or chili...and freeze what we don't eat for another time. DH and I both came from parents that grew up either during the depression or shortly after so we were taught not to waste.

With that said, I have been known to give a healthy portion of something to the outdoor cats because I simply can't bear to eat it again. It doesn't happen very often though.

We still have our youngest living at home, so if we have something left over, we let him take it to work for lunch. Better than eating fast or pre-prepared food, although he's cut back on that. If we do happen to have enough leftover for more than one, we will have it within the next day or two for lunch or if there is still more (sometimes pasta sauce), then I freeze it for a quick meal for another time.

We eat things until they're gone. So we have leftovers all the time. I can't understand those who say they won't eat leftovers. What the heck do you do with all that extra food anyway? I love leftovers, they usually taste better the second and third day.

@WSfan wrote:

We still have our youngest living at home, so if we have something left over, we let him take it to work for lunch. I used to cringe at some of the stuff he wanted to take for lunch: leftover chicken or even a pork chop sometimes. He had no problems with it. Leftover garlic mashed potatoes? "Mom, I'll take it in my lunch!" "Seriously??" "Oh yeah!" He loved the stuff. And why eat the school's spaghetti if he could have his mother's spaghetti? WIth homemade garlic bread! I'm serious.....he was fine with it.

So is DH now. He has no problems taking leftovers in his lunch. We don't eat deli meat or anything like that. if I make a pot of chili or some kind of soup, I'll put some in single-serving portions and throw them in the freezer for him to have in his lunch. With some yeast rolls or muffins, a container of applesauce and a couple cookies, he's a happy camper. He dearly loves meat loaf or ham loaf sandwiches.

If we have roast chicken for dinner, we have no problem with a deep-dish chicken pie a couple days later. Roast beef? Use some leftovers in fajitas or a good beef stir-fry. Leftover pork? Use it to make a quick sweet and sour pork over brown rice. The meat is already cooked, so when you do the sweet and sour pork, just don't cook it as long as you would normally.

I also make stock pots of soup for the freezer, esp during the cold months. Soup, chili, pasta sauce, stew (without the potatoes), Louisiana Red Beans and Rice (without the rice). I always have cooked chicken and pork in the freezer. When you work and you have a lot of meetings, dinner has to be quick. But we don't do fast food, so I get something out of the freezer the night before and then we nuke it in the microwave or throw it into the oven, depending on what it is.

One night my sister and BIL came over for dinner. DH wanted a chicken pie, so I simply took some cooked chicken out of the freezer and made a large pie. We had a nice salad, and I brought some peaches up from the canning cupboard in the basement and made a crumble. Everybody thought it was wonderful and really, the chicken was leftover.

We have no problems with leftovers. It's still good food and I really try to disguise the fact that it's leftovers.

Throughout our marriage, we have always planned weekly menus for three meals that will serve us twice. The remaining day we wing it.

I was a pretty good cook in the early days, but now my husband, who is just a natural-born cook who amazes me with his talent, does the cooking.

So his food is wonderful the first time and even better the second time.

It really depends on what time of year it is. In the Winter I make a lot of soups and things in the crockpot and we have it a couple of nights. In the Summer we grill meat and have salad so not any leftovers. It is just the two of us so we don't cook large amounts. Neither of us are really crazy over left over meat and things like that unless it is a roast then we will have roast sandwiches the second night. It is nice on the nights we do have left overs though so we really don't have to cook.

My youngest daughter drives a tractor trailer for a living and makes runs to the west coast each week. When she's home, I try to cook her favorite foods, which results in most of the leftovers we eat after she returns to work. Friday is trash day, so anything not eaten on Thursday evening, gets bagged up and tossed. Right now our main refrigerator is pretty bare, but with trucker girl due home late tomorrow, I will start cooking meals again, and fill the shelves once more. My husband and I are content with breakfast for supper, a BLT, a pot pie, etc.

This weekend I will be making stuffed peppers, cube steak and gravy, and a turkey breast, which should cover the meals while our daughter is here.

We eat a lot of leftovers, but eating something twice is our limit, so I try not to cook more than that amount.

Hubby will eat leftovers one day only...and only certain" leftovers"...like lasagna or stuffed peppers and soup.

More than I care to. Since DH retired a year ago, he's been on a tear about not wasting things. When he worked out of town I just pitched those tiny amounts that accumulated in the frig. There is no way to get them to those starving children in India, anyway.

No DH here, I live alone. Many suppers are cereal, can of soup or sandwich. Food is not generally sold in portions for one. I hate freezing stuff. So no to leftovers for me

We eat a lot of leftovers. Some things actually taste better the next day. I try and only have enough for one day but some soups will be really good for 2 days. After that anything left gets dumped.
