Has the Kitchen Section Gone to Pot?

I don't pick up on the excitment or enthusiasm here that we used to have. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like people don't post here as much as they used to, and we don't have as many wide ranging discussions about products and cook books.

Maybe it's just me. . . or is there not much new in the Kitchen department? Have we done and seen and eaten it all? LOL!!! (Let me go weigh and I'll get back to you!)

Hi Sooner,

My friend no it is not just you, because I too many times feel that exact way, and not only about the QVC Kitchen Section, but also about the Recipes Section, and below are the reasons why.

Even though I love to post on various QVC Categories, I also love to sparingly post in the Kitchen Section, and most often I do post in the Recipes section and also post and check in with Delayed Grief Section under Wellness Category......(A QVC Community Internet search typing in Delayed grief will take you there).

Recently I read on another QVC thread that a Member of the Recipes Category posted that some QVC members intentionally like to bump up their threads for more attention and higher #'s, by replying to every person individually, who replied on their thread, and they also felt one reply to everyone was sufficent.

To that I can only reply "Different strokes for different folks".

Also I felt that remark in general was uncalled for.

After I read it I felt it was a real joy killer, and should have never been posted, because I and many others, also individually reply to everyone who posts on their threads.

Again, to reiterate like I said above "Different strokes for different folks".

I am on the QVC bb's for many years as you and my other QVC Pals also know Sooner.

Through the years on QVC I have read by other QVC Members that they have classified me as having a large QVC presence, and I was considered a very valued large contributor in the former QVC Recipe bb, and on this one as well, in addition to highly contributing and requesting QVC also include the posts from the former QVC forum relative to the Delayed Grief Thread as I felt we all need some guidance when we lose someone we love and prepare to take our own long grief journey.

QVC evidently read all the numerous posts on that thread and emailed me and complied in bringing some posts over, but of course not the full large vast # of posts from the former QVC Delayed Grief Thread.

Nevertheless I was very grateful that QVC did not remove many posts altogether, and did post some of the older posts on the new QVC bb's, which is still why I check in from time to time in case someone new needs some guidance and is seeking snswers, and others also check in and contribute when I am absent travelling abroad with my husband from time to time.

Sooner all my QVC Pals also know I have always gone the extra mile and it has always been my personal preference and writing style, to individually reply to all who respond to one of my threads.

Sooner I have always individually reponded, and will always continue to do so,because that is as I stated above, my personal writing style.

Sooner I really love that personal interaction I give and receive from all of my QVC Pals.

I always enjoy receiving personal replies from all my QVC pals, so we can cyber chat about the recipes I or they posted, and we can also cyber chat and answer recipe questions and concerns, cyber chat about new products we may like, and just cyber chat in general.

Now I also love receiving hearts from my QVC Pals, but those hearts are not the same as receiving written replies, and having that very special QVC cyber chat interaction.....

All of the above is truly what I miss Sooner, and perhaps why I post less on the QVC bb's in general these days.

I am all for new found technology, and we are well versed with keeping abreast of it in my home, but in truth Sooner, sometimes good old fashion replies written individually to someone, are much more warm and personal, than anything else.

I truly do greatly appreciate all heart replies I receive, but also really miss cyber chatting with those QVC Pals that send those hearts.

It is that personal QVC cyber chat interaction I find to be most heart warming, and rewarding.

Can't help but liking and preferring the old fashioned way of individually replying, because in truth I really do miss those QVC personal cyber chat interactions, with all my QVC Pals.

I hope you had a lovely Easter Sooner, and hope we will also.

I look forward ot our continued warm QVC cyber interactions Sooner, and know you do too.

I am sending you sisterly cyber hugs, and blessings my dear friend, and will be thinking of you, especially when we celebrate our upcoming Greek Orthodox Easter, as I recall you spent years living in Greece and also loved eating Greek food and especially enjoyed our Greek Easter Celebrations.

I feel since the change of format, the forum doesn't have the same involvement. For what ever reason, I don't find it as easy to use or as easy to read. Same fun people, just not easy to read down the threads and comment.

I agree with you, and I think that since the forum has changed, there don't seem to be as many people around.

I was actually thinking this, as I read this thread.

I think that people were probably missing before the change, and probably even more people are missing/not posting since the change. That seems to be what I have been noticing.

People on here can be so nasty and it only takes a few times and people leave. I was attacked the first time I posted a recipe because it was not according to rules. I was then attacked because topic was not liked and moved. You are not allowed to ask another how they are. Who needs it?

I don't find it as appealing as it use to be. I know in he 'Recipes' section you could find a ton of excellent recipes especially at holiday time. And now it's mostly conversation rather than recipes. I think part of the reason it that we don't have all the posters that we had previously, (i.e., TiesThatBind, SuzieA and Carol1229)..... I'm sure there are other posters from the past, whose name I can't remember... Those guys put out some good tasting recipes....

Speaking for myself when you see the title of a forum that should either interest you or not.

In this case, 'Kitchen'. Ok, that interests me reading about Q's products, other people's experience in did that product meet their expectations and other KITCHEN related subjects.

What I don't like and have quit coming over so much is people using this forum for their own personal meet and greets that has nothing to do with the titled forum..KITCHEN.

QVC has provided community chat and among friends if you want to talk about your illnesses, family problelms, current world events, paying your taxes, etc.

I hate what these people have done to my once favorite group. One bunch was moved to where they should be, but, just came back under another title in subject line to throw off the mods. Seems these people want to hog as many forums for their own ends as they can get by with.

Lots of places to satisfy you if all you want to do is contribute pics of cartoons, cats and jokes.

I do not feel that the section has gone to pot. We picked up some snarky posters who seem to enjoy making comments that deliberately put down the OP. I don't understand why they can't just IGNORE those recipes or posts. Why be nasty?

The Recipe Exchange has been very active lately. Also, some recipe sites are making it difficult to 'copy' a recipe and I don't like to have to type them out.

This site leaves a lot to be desired! When you post, it takes a miracle to get back to where you were. We have so much stuff that is unnecessary and don't have some simple ones.(I speak as a former programmer.)

Another reason, I believe, is the changes in methods of cooking. Air fryers, microwave grills and pressure cookers, flip pans, etc. Many of the older "tried and true" recipes don't fit into the new methods. For instance, I just do not bake in my big over anymore even though I used it for years and years.

I enjoy the Kitchen and Recipes sections even though I don't use all of the information. Love to read it and reply to cyber friends.

Thanks for the thoughtful replies. I'm thinking maybe because the kitchen w/d show itself is so overdone and stale that most of us don't watch, and don't see new products to be excited about. This old show is worn slick.

I don't post in the recipe section any more because you get flamed for anything you say to disagree or suggest changes.

I think maybe there's not much new to talk about in food now, and people are so thinned skinned that it inhibits discussion--even when not mean it is to some a sin to disagree. YOu know the more p/c we get, the less tolerant of other opinions we are it seems. Even on things that aren't p.c. -- like fat in a recipe or which grocery store you frequent.

Maybe it is just me and I feel that I have so been there and done that in the cooking area. I'll say one thing, there is nothing new under the sun in that arena at QVC!

At least old Bob actually cooked some!

When I first posted a few recipes here, this is the reaction they got:

"You lost me on adding ketchup to chicken salad" (In other words, yuck and no thanks)

"Sounds good except I can't stand broccoli"

And then, after posting here for about a year, I was reprimanded for posting "too many" slow-cooker recipes at one time on the recipe forum page (even though this certainly did not and could not prevent anyone else from posting )....AND for not posting "tried and true recipes". (say what? SNORT, GUFFAW).

And then there was the opinion expressed that people might be replying to their own threads just to bump them up. Who wrote that rule, and where can it be seen, along with all the other rules that no one seems to know about until they break them?

Luckily,most people have enough sense of humor to withstand the occasional snarkiness that sneaks in

I learned awhile ago that they are many "self appointed moderators" and board scolds on these forums. I have learned to ignore them instead of reading whatever nonsense they have to say.

I've never even been to the Recipe forum. I used to always like the Kitchen area because I'm a old time cook and cook for other people too.

I try to reply to everyone who responds on a line I start, also, and have had the same reaction from a few people. There are some very unhappy people online, it isn't you, it's them.

yes the boards have changed, the kitchen board has changed a lot, escpecially since they broke it into "recipes" and "kitchen"..(as if those two things do not intersect)

Of course i know that everything changes, and always will...

I used to love to read the recipes, but now it seems that nearly everytime a recipe is posted , there is someone from the food police pointing out how unhealthy some ingredient is.. Can' t we all just assume that each of us know what is right for ourselves, and do not need any self righteous amateur nutriitionist to tell us what we SHOULD be eating? i find it offensive. To me it is no differen than someone trying to change my religion here on the BB, because they believe theirs is "better"...

And though I love to hear others opinions, i really dont like being chastised over my choice of food

Sooner, i would like to know what we could do do bring back that excitement.. there was a time when i couldnt wait to get to the Food BB (and Viewpoints)... and catch up on the latest..Now, it seems that days can pass with out a reply to a post.. and they sink into oblivion...

I love interacting with you on all the QVC bb's, you always make my day an even more pleasant one.

I know we both also love the personal touch, and we often reply back to acknowledge the person who posted on my threads.

Noel7 I am from the older generation, where we were taught and practiced good manners, and proper etiquette.

We always acknowledged every kind deed by telephone communication, and follow up by postal mailing, or emailing a thank you ecard.

(I feel that is just having good manners, and that was the way I was raised, and I am not about to change now).

I see no reason to try to please everyone anymore, especially if I already tried.

Sometimes there just is no pleasing everyone, because for many people there is just no pleasing them no matter what you say or do, and that is what is quite sad.

Now my philosophy is try to remain kind, pleasant, and cordial, but also please and be true to thy self.

Hi Noel! I think that what 'happened' to Adore didn't really actually happen. There was mention of bumping threads and Adore misconstrued that as meaning responding to posters, thus bringing the thread back up to the top.

A few of us explained that that was NOT what was meant, but the poster either didn't see the posts or chose not to acknowledge the misconstruance. I just wanted to clarify that nobody meant responding to each poster. I think that is an honorable thing to do and I would believe that most people appreciate that.

There will always be people who are misinterpreted and there will always be people who drag a cloud around with them. But I find a lot in between and a lot more nice people than those who are mean, cruel, insulting, and rude. That's my take, anyway.

Somebody upthread mentioned that they didn't really like separating the forums (kitchen/recipes). I was thinking about that and, while I totally understand the POV, I kind of like it. This forum is just open to all 'kitchen/cooking-related' chat and the other one is for recipes. I'm too much of one who needs order, though. Sometimes that gets in the way.

Unfortunately, there are people all over the internet who only show up to be negative or to try to start trouble. Like others on this line, I don't understand nasty comments about someone else's meal or recipe, it's so petty. We' all not going to like the same things but that should be a given rather than made an issue.

I didn't see the thread in question. I have been chastised for responding to people and I hate to see Adore feel bad.

When I first started coming here I didn't understand the difference between Kitchen and Recipes, I still don't, LOL. I started thinking Kitchen was a place to talk about things like the Air Fryer, but maybe that isn't it. I'm open to an explanation
