Mopines---Yes or No

Was on the fence about getting this. Seems like too much material and too bulky. ...more likely to catch on fire near the stove than a silicone glove. Would like to hear from those who use them.

I had one and don't like it. It's bulky and too difficult to work with. It's basically a thick dish towel. The best product I've used are Tara's gloves.

I, too, have one that I don't care for. The hot pad parts are too bulky and get bunched up in the wash. That's too much fabric to have laying around on kitchen counters. Where to put the darn thing?

Didn't appeal to me for the same reason. Saw another one here that I have in my saved items which looks much more functional and has excellent reviews.

I don't like any kind of cloth potholders. For me they get too dirty and don't hold up their looks after a few washings. I have silicone ones.

I have never tried one. As several here have stated they look bulky and with me could be a fire possibility , but then I am clumsy. I see where if one cooks a lot of large pots of food , in a large family, or restaraunt it could be handy.

I am a fan of little pot holders that I purchase at the $ store that have a good rubberlike material on one side and a pocket to easily slip my hand into . Rather like just the corners of her mopine with out the towel.

This (bolded by me) is what I use also. I'm pretty klutzy also so I can imagine the kind of trouble I could get into with all that extra fabric.

I did, a while back, purchase a couple of this type of thing, though. It wasn't the RR product but that of another vendor who visits QVC. They are pretty similar and the only reason I got them because I liked this one beige-colored one that had seashells on it, plus I got a plain black one because I love black.

Honestly, I have never used either one of them so, for me, it was a ridiculous purchase. I continue to use my pairs of potholders that I slip my hand into and they have the silicone on the outside. This is perfect for my use.

I picked up a mopine second hand, but in like new condition, and hated it.

I have bought a couple of the Cooking Buddies from Q, and those I love.

The Mopine has no real protection from the heat, while the Buddies have silicone. The Mopine is way too short, but the Buddies are just the right length to not strain to pick up big things, but not so long as to get tangled up in interfere with moving things.

I used to prefer an oven mitt, but the Cooking Buddies are my favorite, and if I had to have just one thing, it would be them.

No for me. I just use pot holders, easier to wash, not so much fabric to get in my way. I suppose it's a good idea...I just don't like it, lol.

My friend hated her cooking buddies, she said it was to stiff for her to grab hold of the pan. LOL, she cut the silicone part off.

Not for me, to bulky and a fire hazard. Rachel stated once on her cooking show that she has caught them on fire many times. I like little silicone mitts that I purchased from Amazon. The only kitchen towels I like are white flour sack towels, no lint, dry fast and bleach up great. I buy packages of 12 towels from Sam's club in the restaurant section for about a little more than a $1 for each towel.

Occasionally I have grabbed a pan out of the oven using a dishtowel and this looks like a similar idea. I never feel secure using that. I prefer a hot pad.

I can see me catching the kitchen on fire with the cloth dangling down below the pot and sliding across a hot burner.

I use the cooking buddy for my heavy LeCreuset pots and casserole dishes coming out of the oven. I have burned my front side(right thru my clothes) before and this protects me well.

no,no, no, sent mine back, to much fabric! Plus the middle fabric caught fire, didn't know it, couldn't figure out what that smell was, but soon found out!
