it's heavy before food goes in it! My kids gifted me a 6qt oval cast iron by Ccoquette Staub and honestly, it's still in box.

Im going to sell it at our annual yard sale I can't imagine lifting it in and out of oven☹ my arthritis is much to bad and my strength is not there.

(today I received RR bubble & brown set -- that's heavy stoneware -- such a difference from the weight of Temptations and I'm not sure I'll use that either!)

DH loves this line, but I have a hard time lifting them when full.

He has a big oval one (don't know the size, but big!) & I can't lift it even empty so he has to do the cleanup of it.

I won't get it because I have standard sized burners, the biggest being about 8 inches diameter and I am afraid it won't heat evenly even if I can center it and fit it on the stovetop.

@giddy up

I agree with chickenbutt......I have Le Crueset pots larger than my burners, but this doesn't affect how well they cook on the stove. Stir the food occasionally to move it around from ends to center, but be assured that the cast iron in the pot will heat up all over the pot very well and fairly quickly. And I, too, often start a dish in the Lc pot on the stove and then transfer it to the oven for slower cooking.

I buy my LC from the stores so I can see how heavy they are. I have the 12" skillet and it's not bad, even when food is in it.

The killers are the dutch ovens and soup pots that get filled with liquid!
